Dead leaf on White Bird of Paradise in our backyard |
Our hall/foyer has two switch plates, the light can be turned off/on at the front door or down the hall by the bedroom door.
Last week I flipped the switch and ZZZTZT zzzzztttt and the bulb blew.. Bob comes and flips the light on and it works FINE... later I flip it on and zzzztzzz ztttt light flickers and flutters and sizzling noise.
As soon as the retired master AUTO MECHANIC comes home I point out the problem.
He says... "it's the switch by the front door, not the bulb. Just use the switch by the bedroom..."
Me being
Who I AM.... said "I am not sleeping with a fire hazard."
I placed layers of duck tape over the
entire switch plate, which has 3 switches, front porch, lamp in living room and the hall.....
while visions of house burning down around our heads....etc etc etc
I whined and fretted and fussed until we went to Home Depot and bought the switch. On the way home I said "are you sure you can do this? Electricity is dangerous. You are NOT an electrician."
I can do it he says in a
LOUD voice.........
I come in the house, the TV is on, the computer is on, he goes outside and flips the switch causing the TV to go down and have to REBOOT and the Computer to go down and have to reboot.
I will not repeat what I said... something about him being an auto mechanic not an electrician yada yada blah blah blah. I say "come outside and show me how to shut down the whole house just in case you start to dance and scream"
Ignoring me He gets the screw driver and pulls out the switch while I stand way back watching. He is CUTTING THE WIRES...
I say "should you do that?"
He says "Get the flashlight, I can't see..."
I get the flash light and when I turn it on... he jumps and waves his arm and yells OUCH...
I jumped and nearly dropped the light before my brain kicked in that the electric was OFF...
YES, he did put the new switch on and it does work... and we do have smoke alarms... JUST IN CASE...
