The first two hands of bananas were fine, then each of those little ridges, should have been a hand of bananas.. it stopped making bananas, then a few days ago, the pod started opening and making the flowers that would make the bananas. we have never seen it do this before. Woo Hoo we may yet have fruit....so we thought....
The storm came, the wind blew, the rain fell and so did the banana tree, broke half in to... Bye Bye Bananas.

Amazing, I have never seen a banana tree bloom before! It is beautiful! Thank you for sharing your Florida life with this Missouri girl!
Oh my word I had no idea how bananas started. They certainly have pretty flowers.
Hugs madi and mom
Is there a chance for the bananas to grown again soon?

Oh NO!!!!!!! Might the plant recover from the stalk, the way my yucca did when it got too tall and broke?
Oh no naughty Mother Nature. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
What a shame, it must be great to be able to grow bananas. I eat one every day!
So sorry to hear your banana plantation is kaput! Will you plant again? Where does one purchase a banana plant in the U.S. or does Bob start them from seed? Do they have seeds? Oh dear!
Best,
Bonnie

I am so sorry :(
Oh NO!!!! Has this ever happened before? It has withstood so many things for years...maybe it was because it is getting old? Can you buy the small trees at a garden center? Your pictures really look like something from outer space.
That's a major bummer! Having a banana tree that actually produced bananas would have been so cool.
That is not good - darn - I love bananas!
Well BOO!!
So sorry about your bananas. What a disappointment.
It must have been a doozy of a rain and wind storm...wish we could have a bit of that rain here.
AWW, so sorry about your banana tree!
Awwww, :( :(
I forgot about the storm and how it would affect you guys! Bananas are one of my favorite fruits!!!
It broke in two? You have to be kidding me!!!!!!What a darn old shame. Oh, I bet you two were having a fit! I would have been! Any hope to save the tree? I am really sorry about this. I know how you liked that tree and the bananas!!!!!
OH NO!!!! Not the banana tree. Mother nature has not been kind to the trees in your yard lately has she. So is the tree dead now or is there a chance it will survive?
How disappointing!
Aww, poo! They looked pretty healthy, too. Sorry!
Oh, no! I am so sorry you lost your bananas. They were really growing well too. Hugs!
So sad about your banana tree!
Sorry to hear about your banana tree! What a bummer. I just bought a bunch of bananas. I eat one every day for the potassium.
I've never seen this before! Wow!
Uncooperative weather--a fact of life even in paradise. Bad enough to lose the bananas, but the banana tree, too.
