Tornado.. We are Safe..

Photo from our local weather channel Here
UPDATE: 2 dead, 4 children hospitalized

3 AM today, phone rang and National Weather service recording said Tornado warning, tornado on the ground in your area, take cover immediately... WHAT? we do NOT have tornado here, not in my lifetime

We put on clothes, grabbed flashlight and two phones and prepared to get in the closet. I flipped on the news and we sat for an hour watching the tracker on the screen. it came on shore just south of us, right on one of our beaches and did a lot of damage.

Thank you to the Weather Service for the warning. The storm has moved on and we have 3 inches of rain and a few limbs and leaves down.

This damage done by the one just South of us HERE

Poor Jake is used to going out the back door as soon as our feet hit the floor, he had to HOLD IT for 90 minutes, we did not. HE HE HE

his bathroom was in a 87 thousand raindrops per second and 157 strikes of lightning in 11 minutes... I am not sure if keeping a running score of lightning strikes on the screen while watching a red whirling thing move across us is how I want to wake up on Sunday AM.

Glad you are safe. I feel sorry for anyone caught in the path of the tornado and storms and have suffered as a result. Snow fell here today and has settled, but not as deep as it can be in our semi-rural area.

Praise the Lord!!! The weather is just crazy these days!! Tornadoes where they shouldn't be, earthquakes, flooding followed by droughts- you don't know what to expect any more!
Poor Jake! I knew you would never let him out of your sight! Did he get in the closet with you??
You actually got up EARLY - even for you!!

What a scary way to spend your Sunday morning and poor Jake having to hold it for that long. Glad you were safe though. There was a tornado that went through my neighborhood several years before we moved here. The house that used to be where my house is now was totally destroyed.

Glad to read that you are safe, but that was sure a very close -- too close -- call, Sandra. We always get advance notice on the weather alerts as Pat gets notifications on his cell phone.

Scary! I am glad you and Bob are ok. I heard about this the other day and I was shaking my head, dumbfounded. I have never heard of tornadoes in January, but we had them in December. Mother Nature is just on a rampage this year.
