This Post is Axiomatic

When reading in my kindle, if I come to a word I don't know, I tap the word and a box pops up and tells me the definition.

Last week I tapped the word axiomatic because I have never seen it or heard it before.

I found the the definition and looked up the definition of the definition and the next one to. . .

I give you the What If that popped in my head...What if the Declaration read like this?

We hold these truths to be axiomatic, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights... from USA Declaration of independence in 1776

Why not
We hold these truths to be self-evident, apparent, undeniable, unquestionable? HUMMM???

Have you ever used, heard or read this word axiomatic? Would our forefathers have know what it meant? Does it matter now? HEH HEH HEH

But wait! there's more. I DID NOT STOP I searched define unalieanble to see if there was another word I never heard and  and found that some versions of The Declaration of Independence used unalienable rights and others inalienable rights and they mean the same thing. Rights that cannot be given or taken away. if you want to see more info here is The Link

I too remember from school that the word was "IN"alienable rights.

Interesting. Lately, I've been playing "hangman" from my phone app and I too have to click on the word for a definition when I don't know the word. Which is often.

I have never seen that word either. Your new version of the Declaration of Independence would surely be a tongue twister with axiomatic in it. Now I challenge you to rhyme something with this word...come on I know you love a challenge

If the body don't move as we want at least your trying to get your brain to word in vocabulary. Good for you.

I am trying to learn to write again in my journal book. For so many years it is typing.

Then my Granddaughter tells me. Grandma they have done away with writing in the schools. They print.

I said. What next.

I love that about the Kindle, being able to just click and get an explanation :) Sometimes now I find myself wanting to do the same thing with printed text and getting frustrated when nothing happens! (hehe) I know 'axiom' (same word can be used in Swedish) but never heard 'axiomatic' - that I can remamber.

I love new words, but I don't like when people use great big fancy words when a simple word can be used :-).

Interesting topic.

As for Our Constitution, sadly, for many, it is a joke.

No, I had never heard the word...I love that about the kindle. But I was always one for looking up words...always like to go to the library and look up stuff. Like EG says, now I could just remember them.

When I saw the title of your post I thought, now there is a word I have never used before. Now I know what it means too.

It is a great word. I can do that on mine and I love learning new words. Haven't heard this one before, thank you :)

That word doesn't seem to pop up in my vocabulary. It really is a good word.
It's a shame our constitution has just become another part of the distant past and not relevant for today.
I'm glad you liked my tea cup photo. That cup and saucer belonged to my Mom and it always sat on her hutch. I don't think it ever held any liquid.

As soon as I saw "axiomatic" in your title, I tapped the dictionary in my app tray and looked it up. I wish I'd known you looked it up so I wouldn't have to! LOL I like how you got the point across about the Declaration of Independence, too.
