Tale of a Pink Hisbiscus

While rolling the ball to Jake, he stopped and went ON POINT... staring at the hisbicus bush... Suddenly a squirrel raced out of the bush and up the tree with a big Pink Hisbiscus in his mouth, he scampered up to the fork in the tree and proceeded to eat the hibcus petal by petal... 28 years here with squirrels and hisbicus and my first view of  the Squirrels Flower Buffet.

Pretty cool pictures. So did Jake attempt to follow the squirrel up the tree? :)

I've heard of hibiscus tea and have seen squirrels consuming mushrooms...but never them eating flowers before.

Desperate times, desperate measures? Who knows.

And, the previous post with the commercial and song...
Oh, oh...I now have EARWORMS. [I posted about earworms quite a while ago]

I could look at these forever!! Now don't you be poppin' my bubbles! LOVE the squirrel story! I have never seen one eat flower petals, but you are right, it IS a squirrel buffet! Glad Jake did not catch the little guy. DOES he ever catch them?

Too funny...I saw the gray squirrel, that thinks our yard is his private playground, run up our Manzanita "tree" yesterday and grab one of the yellow ball "fruit" ...not sure what it is....and scamper away. I guess they will eat what ever the yard buffet offers.

These are lovely!

A hibiscus eating squirrel is not unusual, both deer and squirrels love eating the leaves and stalk as well as the petals. Seems like you need to protect your Hibiscus plant with chicken wire,...perhaps!
Have a good week!:)

Soooo pretty!
We've a seemingly happy hibiscus bush in the back yard, but it's petals are nothing compared to those grown in Florida.

That must have been funny watching the squirrel. When I was in LA I saw one run down a tree and pick up a fallen orange and scamper away with it in its mouth. Clever photos again.

I've never heard of a squirrel eating a flower before but you just never know about those crazy squirrels. - Loving the edits you created here. My favorite is the last one with the pin. Super cool looking.

Love those pictures they are amazing. Last year the squirrels ate a lot of my canna leaves. I have heard they will eat about anything if they are hungry. They eat the pine cones here and I have seen them with huge pieces of wild fruit in their mouths scurrying up a tree to eat it. Hugs and give Jake some nose kisses for us
