Pain at the Pump

Paying at the pump is Pain at the Pump....

I tried a new station below because I saw the 10 cents a gallon less.
Photo taken in November.. our gas is now 2.29 per gallon.
Imagine my shock while I stood gassing up the car when I realized the cheaper price said..
Cash or Marathon Credit Card.
I have no idea what I paid because I did not look at the pump while it was running.
I do know it cost me 29 dollars for half tank of gas.
Do you shop gas or do you use the same station all the time?

That is a lot of money for half a tank! I think our car has a much smaller tank than yours. What a sneaky trick!

That is terrible! We have 3 stations that we drive by often and just choose the one with the best price; we fill up about every 2 weeks.

Hi Sandra, fuel as we call gas/petrol/diesel here in SA is seriously a pain in the pump for us too. While we only had two wheels, we didn't realize how much we were saving on fuel. We pay R750 (about US$70) to fill up our double cab pick up. We don't fill up ourselves; we pull into the fuel station and we're served by a "bowser attendant" In Marquard, the same lad, Elvis has worked at the only station in town and we are all very fond of him. This same man cleans your windscreen / windshield while the petrol is flowing into your tank. You tip him about 10% of the total price for his help. Greetings Jo

Sorry, 1% not 10%!

I hate it when they do stuff like that, advertising a price and in smaller print put that it's not for everyone.
Right now our gas is $2.45. We mostly just go to a Country Fair store that's near the house but if we spot it cheaper somewhere else and need to fill up we will. We have a Marathon station here but it's not in a convenient location

Thatis false advertising. Our prices change from week to week. WE get small discounts from certain supermarkets so we have to find the petrol station which takes our supermarket discount. However, I wouldn't complain about your prices. This week prices have gone up to $1.36AUD per litre. That works out to about $3.60US for a gallon.

We just use the same station (Costco) all the time. Even if gas is a little cheaper (usually only pennies) it can cost more to drive around looking for it.

Best,
Bonnie

No we don't shop for gas. When I was working it was my habit to get gas each Saturday at a station near where I was shopping on Saturdays. We are pretty much in the same routine now so we still buy gas there or the place just around the corner on our way home from Saturday errands. Last fill up was 2.15. One thing for sure our little place is 10cents cheaper a gallon than all the places near home.

I pretty much use the same station all the time. Whatever your gas price is ours is always a dollar more a gallon and they want to raise that! Our cars take premium so it is almost always at least $3.00 +.....

Hello Sandra, you must have a large tank. Hubby will leave a station if the cash/credit prices are not advertised correctly. They can be pretty sneaky hiding the real credit price. Enjoy your day and week ahead!

We buy gas by the litre and here prices change at midnight depending on market fuel prices. Sadly in the summer it seems prices soar more at pumps each weekend to cash in on our cottage culture when a massive number of cars head north to get away from the city.
We buy our gas anywhere as we need it. Latley we've been paying $1.09 for 89 grade. The lowest is 87 and our highest is 94 grade and that one is very costly. My KIA fill up is usually around $60 CAD using 89 grade. Self serve is cheaper than full service but full service bars are now rare since many have converted stations.
Here in the GTA of Ontario we are wondering how Canadian prices will go up when Trump gets into power if our dollar falls more. We have had a large trade with US but there is a big wonder and worry about the way things will be after January 20.

Our price is about the same as yours here in the Sacramento area.
We usually shop at the same place because we do get store credits too.
No Full serve at any stations. Its all self serve.

Pricey but we want to drive. I just fuelled up my car today, it was about at a ¼ tank so it was almost empty.Cost me 45.00.

That's so sneaky! I fell for the same thing at Safeway a few months ago; even called it "bait-and-switch" ... but of course, I hadn't closely read the fine print. (Jerks) Still, I've not been back.

I try and make a point to use the newer pumps at the Kroger near our home. It's a few pennies more ($2.20 presently) than those close to my office -- but they're in a sketchier neighborhood and I'd just as soon not pump with my left hand poised over the panic alarm.
