Sock Hop/Car Show 2007

In prior Post Punny Feet, I showed you feet and the Sonic Hotdog and girls on roller skates.. I took those photos and these in 2007 at the Sock Hop/Car Show at the long term nursing facility where I volunteered. The staff dressed in 50's style, ferried the residents out to take a look into the past.

Would you like to have a car pun here? or would it drive you up the wall.. I am only doing a few because I think you may be exhausted and want me to pipe down...

Sonic brought their traveling food truck, and everyone had hotdogs and rootbeer floats, staff and residents and of course ME the photographer. The skating car hops pushed the residents outside and around to each car.

My attire somewhat 50's style, but when Bob came over to look at cars, I am not sure he was in proper attire for a sock hop. What Think Ye????

I have seen this picture of you and Bob. But don't remember any of the others. This must have been a really nice nursing home; which is almost impossible to find. The red and white car...I have never seen a trunk open like that! It is wild and crazy. Wonder what the point is...it would be harder to get things into the trunk. I bet for a day the patients felt like hey were young again. Sad but fun.

So I showed this car to Phil. He says that this is not really the trunk lid. It is the hood, and they put it back there. Apparently it is a convertible with no trunk. For single swingers.

Good girls in poodle skirts should stay out of this car.

Good Morning, What a fun outing for those residents. My dad always loved looking at vintage cars. Love that candy apple red one that you and Bob posed beside!

What a great idea for the residents. Tell Bob they won't let into the sock hop without socks LOL

Good morning, it does look like a fun outing for the residents. I did not know Sonic had a food truck. I like the cars and the shot of you and Bob! Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!

This could have been photos from my past at the A@W Root beer stand.

I had to look up "sock hop"! But yes, I guess Bob seems a bit underdressed for the proper 50's style... :)

Sandra, what a delightful activity at the nursing home.
Very clever and so much fun to look at.
That Candy Apple Red car is to "die for".
Terrific Throwback Thursday.

That is the coolest nursing home idea in the history of EVER!
How I wish they had had something like that here when it came time to relocate my mother. I'm no expert, but imagine sing-alongs and bingo gets realllly old after a while.

I'm sure that many of the seniors enjoyed reliving the past.

That's a beautiful red paint on the car behind you. I liked that El Camino, and the '57 Chevy. My dad had one of those. (The '57). Everywhere we went for YEARS was in that car. I was around two years old when he got it, and he was still driving it when I graduated high school. Did you spend time at the punitentiary?

We used to have an El Camino. I wish we had all the old cars/trucks we used to have. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
