Wordy Wed .. The Box

My friend, the lifeguard at the YMCA told me this story... His girl friend stayed the night at his house, leaving a wrapped and ready for UPS package on the back seat of her car.

The next morning, ready to leave home at 5 AM for the YMCA to guard Me While I Exercise, they found her car open and the box GONE...

Brian jumped on his Harley to rush to my assistance, leaving the girl friend hitting the streets looking for the box..

Here is the giggles part.... The Box was full of bubble wrapped ROCKS!

Her Dad left her his fossil collection and she decided to sell off the least valuable ones on line. The box of rocks was ready to ship to Mexico. The person walking down their street carrying the box of rocks, had stopped 2 blocks away, set it on a bus stop bench, opened 2 rocks and walked off leaving the box of rocks/fossils... They were all there..

I wish I could have seen the FACE when he opened the carefully wrapped box....Sadly, Brian had no breakfast that morning while guarding me because he left his lunch bag sitting on the driveway.
THE ODD THING TO ME???? why anyone would buy rocks and pay SHIPPING to Mexico!

This is hilarious! Yes, a rock collector would pay for shipping. Some rocks that don't look like much can be quite rare and fetch a big price. I have bought rocks from eBay, because my friend and I are rock collectors. I don't buy them anymore, but it was fun. What a dedicated lifeguard you have!! Left his girlfriend in distress to rush and guard YOU! No one can resist the Mad One.

Phew, I am glad for the lifeguard's gal that her treasure was safe and recovered. Clearly a troglodyte of a thief who didn't know what he had! My father was much into geology when younger and I inherited that interest and I have a friend (do you know Bertie Boffin and his Gail???) who is a geologist who would have had conniptions in such a situation. So yes, there's money in rock - provided it comes from the right place and time! YAM xx

That's a funny story. Frustrating for them to have to go look for the box though. It's amazing to me what people will pay for on e-bay. People sell some crazy things on there. I suppose the rocks could be valuable though since they are fossils.

That is a funny story! My car was broken into when I lived in midtown Atlanta in 1973. The thief tore into my boxes of flyers announcing the upcoming Billy Graham Crusade. I found the flyers scattered all over the carport and driveway the next morning.

I guess you have got to like your rocks. Fortunately the thief didn’t. Great story Sandra.

An odd story to say the least but with a great ending!

WOW. Cute story, but I'm so upset at the audacity of these 'pirates.' Maybe it's always been this way and we're just hearing more and more about it. Sigh.
Wouldn't it be fun to have a car alarm that sounds like a snarling Doberman?!

I have met some people that are about as interesting as a box of rocks...
What a funny story.
We had our car broken into when it was parked on our driveway. there was nothing of value in it but the person took all our CDs we had in the console.
They were found just a few doors down...reason...
They were all christian music.....not the thieves choice....

That is a funny/interesting story. Must have cost a fortune to ship those.

Sitting with tears in my eyes...this is so so funny.

As to who would pay to ship rocks...ME! I have thought about asking a couple bloggers if I would give them the money for a priority box, would they fill it with rocks from their part of the USA and send the to me.

There are lots of funny stories that just can’t be made up, like thus one. As to why anyone would pay to ship rocks, my answer would be that why do some people do what seems really odd to others?
