In a prior post last week, someone mentioned how funny it was to see Sanitary Sewer written on the manhole lid. Yesterday on my walk, as I focused on the shadow play on this manhole lid, I saw it simply said Sewer. As I walked I saw some said Sanitary Sewer others said Sewer, a few had no words at all. It dawned on me that the sewer might mean run off water and the sanitary would be the pipes running from the houses carrying the sewer.
As soon as I got home I researched Google and this is exactly what it means, Each lid tells the workers what that pipe does and where it goes. AHA moment.

yup. wouldn't want to get them mixed up! YAM xx
That makes perfect sense because you certainly wouldn't want them all going to the same place.
How come you can take picture of a sewer and it looks trendy. lol
If I took that nobody would be interested, lol

Hello,
Yes, those two need to be kept separate. I like the shadow captures.
Enjoy your day!
GiGi Google is smarty cookie...wish it had been around when I was a child it would have been quite helpful

Well I'll be. Now I gotta check ours out...if I remember. Love the shadows.
Ps...thanks again for stopping by h viewing my bird photos.
I’m glad we are never too old to have aha moments! I’ve had a few lately but I can’t remember what they were now!
YES! You found out!!! And the funny thing is...the sewer for houses is much less sanitary than the rainwater one!! Go figure. But at least now we KNOW.
Who'd have ever guessed? Those things that lie beneath … oooh.
Like another blogger says, "Every day's a school day."
I have a smart phone and I can look things up when the thought pops into my head, only I HATE doing it cause I like a BIG screen so I carry a small note pad with me and I write the thought down when I think of it and look it up later on the laptop! HAHA....memory span sucks.
Ah Ha...thank you for my ah ha moment...hadn't given it any thought but now I'm educated...thank you.
Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
This just goes to show you that a creative and inquisitive person will ALWAYS find something to blog about.
We have the same kind of thig...our storm drains actually run out to the ocean...or a river feeding into the ocean. The Sanitary sewers go to the local water treatment plant...
Aren't AHA moments the best?!
I learn something new every day!
And now we know.
Here things are color coded. Maybe that is because of bilingualism or just easier to mark. All those lids are on special maps and I guess the color scheme makes map reading faster? Great interesting post.
