Blah Blah QUEEN

From my archives
I am the Blah! Blah! Yada! Yada! Queen... I think it, I say it, and if by some chance I don't say it, it shows on my face for everyone to read. ALSO, I am the Queen of Post on subjects no one cares to know about.... here you go

I put Big Boy's eggs on to boil, he gets 1 a day. I thought, I have time for a quick P__-break, while it comes to a boil. 15 minutes later OH NO! I remember the eggs, they did not boil dry, and I don't think Big knew the difference. The question is, Did it ruin the nutrients of the egg?  YEP! we lost 50 percent of the nutrients. Eggs should not be boiled more than 5 minutes. WRITE THIS DOWN, you may need to know it when you get OLD.
When I was young I did not forget the eggs were boiling OR need to go P____ while boiling them.

I hard boil my eggs for 12 minutes!!! But that's O.K., I rarely eat hard boiled. And I eat lots of fried, poached, and scrambled. I had NO idea of this; you are a public service MARVEL.

P.S. I don't think you have ever done a post that I didn't care about. Ever.

Posting on subjects no one cares to know about? You realize that I'm the one who posted about making a slipper out of a loaf of bread right?....lol
I love all things you post about.
As for eggs, I've always boiled them 10 minutes. Oops. I guess no nutrients for me.

...we're here... we care!!! We are also (I make assumptions here, but educated ones) all of an age to appreciate 100% of what you posted here today! Yes, the closer to raw the egg, the better it is for you. I fed angel Jade one straight from the shell (and Jasper cat) as their Sunday treat. YAM xx

LOL you are so funny... thank goodness the water didn't cook out the smell of burned eggs would be horrid. And I also learned when the 5 minutes are up you should rinse them in cold water because they will keep cooking
I love your last sentence.

Well that's good to know, but if I write it down, I'll forget where I put the note. That is the story of my life. LOL I need to keep a notebook, not just have floaters lying around.

I agree with Ginny, you ARE a public service marvel! So, does this mean all the hard-boiled eggs I consume are OK because there's less cholesterol? (Never mind, what I don't know won't hurt me!)

Macie and Grace had hard-boiled egg (yolks) yesterday, too. Macie had been intestinal 'issues' and I wanted to give her something besides Pedialyte that might settle her stomach.

Only 5 minutes - what happens when you fry them or scramble them? My memory is like yours!

Learn something new every day and thanks Sandra for this info about eggs losing nutrients just by overcooking...who knew?

I bring my eggs to a boil, turn them off and put a cover on. However I never ever leave my eggs alone anymore because I always get sidetracked. I've had them explode too many times!

Sorry about the loss of nutrients but at least you thought of them before they boiled dry and exploded all over the place. Hugs
