Locust Husk on Nature Friday

No locust puns today, that would really bug me!!!!!

This locust husk is on the wall to the house. .. I have seen these many times but never with the stripes showing on the husk.

This is the mushroom I stopped to snap with cell phone, not good photos, I had it set on 1 mp and forgot, but this thing is as big as a football. Sitting on a stump.

Hello,

I love the mushroom. I am not a fan of insects. Enjoy your day!

I don't think I have ever seen them with the stripes, either. Somewhere I have a picture of Sarah with them all over her...when she was goofing around.

I wish I was there to see those mushrooms!

Wow, this is like a giant mushroom flower! Are these the same kind of locust as in the bible plague? Well, as if anyone would actually know that! There may be different kinds. This is really cool! I don't think I have ever seen a real one. It is pretty creepy looking.

I used to have to take a broom and sweep the locust skins off the sides of the house! I don't see them like I used to....
Those are great photos. I don't think I've seen the stripes before either!

Wow! The detail on the mushroom's backside is amazing. I even forgot to be afraid (ha) of the locust shell.

You just keep those locusts right there. We don't have them here. Sometimes living in the frozen tundra does have its benefits! lol Great mushroom shots! xo Diana

Just last eve I watched a piece with Judi Dench about her love of trees and how mushrooms help trees in their communication. I have not seen a locust skin likely because we have so few for now. Not sure if that is a climate thing or a pesticide one or maybe my vision. I have notices less sound from the critters in August. Sad. Less birds too. Frogs? All are slowly going as we alter the food chain with our tech.
