My beautiful cup, that I loved to pieces, now lies in the sink in lots of pieces.
I sipped hot chocolate until it was gone,
sat the cup in the sink because I was done.
Boiling water I poured into my favorite cup
then like a dummy, I picked it up.
I yelped in pain, dropped the cup in the sink,
and like an idiot, let cold water run on it, because I did not THINK!
It cracked down the middle,
I cried just a little.
UPDATE from comments below..I did not get burned. the handle was hot and I dropped it quickly.
There is no way to replace the cup, it was a gift from the former leader, and they don't sell them anymore. Each night for my special treat I have hot chocolate in the pretty glass cup. I found this one on AMAZON of course. The photos below are from Amazon..

I am more concerned about you than the mug. How is your burn?? Keep a bottle of Burn Gel in the kitchen, it is really good! Your new mug is real pretty! Looks like it would keep drinks a bit hotter as well.

Yes, as dear as the first cup was, this one looks 'proper'; double-walled and therefore thermally safe. LOVED the poem you got out of the disaster though!!! YAM xx
I don't know which would hurt more, picking up a very hot mug or watching it break. I dropped on of my favorite mugs a month or so ago and was heartbroken. Some how coffee just tastes better when it's in your favorite mug.
Oh, dang! Breaking a favorite cup is not a good thing! Hmmm, hot chocolate, Love THAT idea.
Sorry about the burn and breaking the cup! I would be very upset if I broke my favorite mug. Have a happy day!
I too have a favorite mug that I drink tea out of every day. It was one of a pair that we bought, but the handle broke on one, so now it’s a single. Like you, we also have some glass mugs and thankfully none have broken yet. Glad you found a replacement to enjiy your hit cocoa treat, Sandra.
I am glad you were not hurt in the making of this blogpost...and glad you found a replacement.
Dang it I'm really sorry about your TOPS cup 'cause I know how much TOPS has changed your life....I liked the shape of i t but I do believe the new one is about as close as you could get.

Well, shoot!!!
I might have an unhealthy attachment to mine, but agree with Ann: drinks always taste better from a favorite mug. I'm happy to hear you found this substitute on line, and it looks really pretty in the nook … but I'm going to check eBay and Etsy, just in case.
Well, you got a dang good rhyme out of your mishap.
My friend you are indeed a poet.
So sorry about your favorite treasured mug.
I guess we all have our favorites for sentimental reasons.
The glass replacement is perfect for you but it's not your special one.
Glad you were't hurt...You made me thirsty for hot chocolate so I just made some to sip while cruising Blogdom.
Looks like the new cup should keep your beverage either hot or cold as needed.
Sandra I remember you looking for a mug a long time ago.
I am sorry you got burnt and sorry you lost your mug.
I do like your new one though!
Losing special cups or dishes is always rough. I'm glad you found a new(and very pretty) sippy cup!
I reacted the same way when I broke a favorite cup not too long ago. I, too, replaced it on Amazon. I'm happy like you are - I like the one that I now have.
I'm sentimental, so was sad about your broken cup. I'm glad you found a new one you like.
i am sorry you got burnt and for your broken mug. i love your new one though. i have had many different favorite mugs over the years, and i am very loyal; i only change favorites when the current one breaks.
Sorry about your cup. :(
Glad you found a replacement.
Awww, sorry about your favorite cup. I have my favorite mug too.
So sorry about your cup! While I was in Kansas City, Louis Dean broke my favorite wine glass! Even though I had thought ahead and placed it in the cabinet in such a way that I thought it would be impossible for him to even see it much less knock it over! No replacing of this one either.....oh, well!
