Earth Day 2020 april 22

As  I walked for exercise, I thought about our earth. One side of the street I passed  this yard, no chemicals used to make it green, but the yard is planted to take care of itself, using rocks and drought resistant plants.

The other side is beautiful, man made beauty, sprayed with Chemicals to make it GREEN, sprinkler system using precious water during our drought. Wasting what we have to make an impression.

I saw this  plastic fork, tossed from a car into our yard.  Plastic to fill our earth with garbage,

I rounded the corner and stopped to count the vehicles I could see in the yard of FIVE houses.... the count was 20.

Twenty Cars, 2 boats 1 RV, at 5 houses
We have seen in the past month how much our world has changed for the better as this horrid virus rips our world apart. There is a lesson here and we have plenty of time to think about it.

The earth is what we all have in common.

Progress is impossible without change, and those who can or will not change their minds can not change anything.  Author unknown

Marni Jameson at The Oklahoman says this in her article, Lets Be Kinder To Our World.

What I'm getting to here is that being forced to stay home has me me reconsider our effect on you, Our planet, this big rotating rock uniquely positioned to support LIFE.
And we-I'll speak for myself, I - have been remiss.

The air in Los Angeles is now cleaner than it has ever been. But I fear that after this, people will still not learn. Where did you get this globe; is it a balloon?

we agree... we all have only this one earth... and there is no plan b or another planet for us... so we have to keep it healthy for us and all who will coma after us...

Sometimes I think nature is punishing us with this virus because we haven't been looking after her.

Today should have been a bright day ... and it is, for nature ... but not for us! We will stay in the lockdown for another month!

You've created a very wise post today. We should all be smarter when it comes to protecting what is right in front of us.

Excellent post for Earth Day. We can all so something to improve the earth even if it's something as small as not using plastic forks.

Great post for Earth Day. You have a great outlook, more people can do their part to help out. We can not even use chemicals on the grass or plants, we have well water.. I would not want to drink poisons. Take care, hang in there! Enjoy your day!

Although I haven't see the evidence except on the television news people are tossing their protective plastic gloves that are used during shopping trips out of the car windows. Tipping rubbish in isolated beauty spots is on the increase due to the closure of recycling facilities. This has always happened but it has got worse recently. My opinion is that many people will go back to old habits. A good post to get us thinking about how we can do our bit particularly to protect our planet from pollution.

At the beginning of your post I was thinking how my mother would LOVE this green, green lawn and the palms. How she loved Florida! Yet, like so many of us 'back then', she never considered the ramifications of folks' carelessness.

This is such a perfect post for Earth Day. No, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the Universe isn't trying to teach us a lesson. THINK, people!

I agree about the change and also add, the power of change is AMAZING! I love what it brings just in each day of living. Change is, I find a fun thing.

There is not any place you can go and not find garbage. I don't think there is a farmfield within a hundred miles that doesn't have a plastic sack in it somewhere, and often times more.

Wonderful post today, Sandra. Our earth is fragile and we each need to do our part.
It's such a disappointment that so many of the recycling centers around us have closed.
It's getting harder and harder to find a place to recycle.

I agree! How do we fix it? I love the fact that we are in better shape now since people are staying home and less cars are driven. As far as trash goes some people will never change.

We could all do more at saving our precious resources.

I really do hope that we (humanity all over the planet) do learn something more from this crisis than just about this virus. Like, do we really have to go back to everything "just like it was before"?

Great post for Earth Day, thank you. Native Americans said: We borrow the Earth from our children.

What we are leaving them now is to my mind the saddest thing I live with. Yes, I'm guilty of neglect too. I try to do my best, but it's not good enough.

Great post Sandra, and yes it's up to each and every one of us to do our part.

Belated Earth Day greetings and you have hit the nail on the head in this post, Sandra. And to add to the trash, people are discarding face masks and gloves by roadsides and on sidewalks. I have taken photos of some seen along our city walks and it really is quite careless of people who supposedly are protecting themselves and others, yet helping to destroy the place they live.
