fishing tournament marlin

In a prior post a couple of you asked about the fish in the photo. I took this photo in 1985. Bob went on a fishing tournament with his two friends. The boat belonged to his friends. it was the smallest boat in the tournament. Newly married I said to them, how do you think you can win in that boat. They were OUT there for 3 days and came home with the biggest fish. Bob caught it and won the tournament for their boat. His share of the prize bought us the 78 Grand Prix.. the mark on the side is where Jeff on the left, hooked it with a gaff trying to get in in the boat, it weighed 200 pounds and Bob weighed 180.

The boat was named Do It To It... and they did... against all the yachts.

WOW, that's some story. That's definitely a fish story worth telling and at least he has the photo to prove he isn't making it up.

Now THAT's a Fish Tale worthy of the news at 6:00! Yep, you found yourself a real catch in Bob. :) Was this off the coast of Clearwater?

I'm going to have to dig out a picture of me and the sailfish I (supposedly) caught in Acapulco years ago -- one of the worst experiences of my life.

I loved that story! Very interesting. You got a car from the winnings? Cool.

What a fish! I can't believe how Bob got that into the boat. Small boat too. But the most interesting thing in this picture, to me anyway, is that Bob looks very close to the way he looks now. 35 years, amazing!
