Safety Measures part 2

Hemp Hand cleaner from Amazon, all that was available with out waiting weeks for delivery.  Frog insert came with story of how we need to be GREEN with our earth... All Herbals Germ Killer.

Safety Measures I take when shopping.
SENIOR Shopping means clean when stopping
My Shopping!

My Hemp Spray in the cup holder,
My spray bottle of alcohol inside the SUV hatch,
Is used as soon as I click the latch.
These two bottles make me so much bolder
and hopefully a lot older.

Inside the vehicle, rides a brown paper bag,
I remove my MASK and pop inside,
hoping this will keep me from turning into a sick looking hag.

I spritz my hands and load the supplies,
while praying the spritzing protects my eyes.

I close the back, run to the driver door,
open it up and spritz hands some more.

On the funny side... I wish I had a video of me using the Walmart rest room WITHOUT touching anything in the rest room.

Open door with shoulder
Open stall door with elbow
Close and slid lock with same elbow
Kick up seat with my feet
Put down seat with my feet
Flush with my left foot, carefully balancing  to keep from falling and touching the floor.
Soap and water is hands free.
Repeat on the way out...    I did not touch one thing in the rest room but the toilet paper hanging down.  We gotta do what we gotta do..

Tell me something you do to be safe out there.. Do you have a PLAN!

It's a jungle out there!! Remember that song from the TV series Monk?
I always feel like I am going into battle.I am getting a little more used to the routine now so maybe it will all become second nature in time.
I get trying to flush the toilet with your foot without touching the wall or falling down. I made it but I was tottering over a bit! However - I did not fall!!! Wouldn't that just be the worse thing?? To fall in a public restroom after trying so hard not to touch anything??? Let's don't even think about that!

All I can say is you have fabulous balance! Maybe from getting all this practice. We now have such a complex system for going in the store that it is very hard for us to remember, and we have been known to slip up. Involves gloves, masks, disinfectant...Going grocery shopping now is like getting ready for battle, with an invisible enemy.

There don't seem to be many cases here in town so we're not that careful. Mostly I go down to our laundry room once a week when no one else is there, and we go grocery shopping every four days. We wear masks and wash our hands when we get home, and I do it again after I've put the groceries away. I will let you know if we get sick so you can say, "I told you so!" Fingers crossed it doesn't happen, of course. :D

we hear you!!! we had a funny adventure at the gas station, to touch the sensor what open the doors with gloves is a semi-good idea... nothing happens LOL

I'm smiling at the way you were successful with the challenges presented to do what used to be an ordinary activity when out-and-about. We're still heavily restricted here and going out except for a walk to get some fresh air and exercise is not possible for the elderly with health issues like us. It would be too much of a risk, but I congratulate you on your ingenuity and you certainly got some exercise as a bonus! :)

Currently you can not be careful enough those days …
I always have a bottle of disinfectant with me!
Stay safe, stay healthy! Hugs!

That's some routine you have there. Sounds like you have it down to a science now.

as I am not doing the shopping or going out (beyond transferring to my own home), no need for quite so much drama; but have always carried hand sanitiser anyway as have always known public places carry germs. This is not new. Just that more folk are getting the hygiene message. Again. YAM xx

Mask when shopping is in the car (hanging on directional signal device). Hand disinfectant is in glove box. Disinfecting towelettes are carried with me to use to wrap around cart handle. Other things I do but can't recall.

Good morning Sandra,

You do have all things safety related down to a routine. I try to avoid touching all doors, using my shoulders. I use the wipes whenever I can. I have never heard of your hand cleaner, is it local made? Enjoy your day!

I do the mask, and I usually take some paper towel wet with bleach...when I get in the store I go over the shopping cart handle with that. Our county has only had seven cases, and the other county I shop in has not had any.

Well done and documented MS.
I tell you getting ready for an outing is a chore..almost to tired to go out.
All the thinking and planning, putting on armor and being sure you have all the germ busters. I now leave a pair of gloves and sm. bottle of sanitizer in the car and an extra masks.
Hugs Cecilia

My plan improved yesterday when I was looking for some ointment in a bin in the bathroom. I found 5 small containers of antibacterial soap from Bath and Body! I thought I had some but couldn't remember where it was. Now I have some extras. We use all kinds of precautions....want to get older too! Hugs!

Not going out (except for walking dog in neighborhood). Maybe never going OUT out again. Scary thought.

Your bathroom episode is hysterical! I never thought about having to use a public toilet. Yikes! (Pondering whether to purchase a package of Depends.....)
I keep a bottle of homemade gel sanitizer in my car. No more gloves to be found! Instead, I've begun sticking my hands in the plastic bags they have hanging in the produce section. I've also wrapped them around my cart handle. Oh! And yesterday I saw a neat trick -- When your paper towels run out, don't throw away the cardboard tube. Just cut through it lengthwise and place over the handle of your shopping cart … then throw it away when you leave the store.

I rarely go into stores and I'm so glad I haven't had to use a public bathroom but I'm sure I would handle that as you did. Before my shopping I check my supplies/menu and then I order my groceries/supplies online. I go to my grocery store, to pickup my order at no extra charge (I bet they won't be able to do that much longer). On the way home I might run into the Dollar General for items the bigger grocery store could not supply me. The common shortage items like paper products and milk are usually found there. Last week I scored 70% rubbing alcohol to make hand sanitizer with the aloe I scored earlier in April. I use plastic gloves and a mask during my outing along with my disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer. I only handle what I'm going to purchase, keep my distance from other people and marvel at the number of people not taking precautions. Items that don't need to be refrigerated I let sit in the garage for 24 hours and hope that is long enough to kill the virus. I have had a hard time changing my thinking about wiping down grocery carts, when I use them. I was not a fan of hand sanitizer either, because I had read articles how it kills the good bacteria along with the bad. Anyway, I rarely get sick (thank goodness our grandkids are past the contagious age of 2 and 3) and I take the flu shot every year. The pandemic has been quite an eye opener for us all! Stay well to you all!

I haven't had to use a public rest room since all this craziness started. I do most of my grocery shopping online with home delivery, as you know. When I've had to go to the pharmacy or other shops, I've gone when it was not likely to be (and was not) crowded. I have a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my purse, and also a pair of thin disposable plastic gloves in case I should feel need of them.

It sounds like we are all in the same mode of protection.
Mask, plastic disposable gloves, wipes. and bottle of sanitizer in purse.
We go to the grocery about once a week..in and out...wiping down the cart handle and only touching what goes in my cart...no purusing the merchandise.
Have gone to several drive through and curbside restaurants armed with gloves and mask too.
It sure is getting old to say the least, but better safe than sorry.
Working in our yard and walking the neighborhood are about as far as we go.
Just to let you know my blog is totally screwed up. I can't seem to be able to get back to my original, classic blogger...not happy at all.
Since it's raining today I will try to figure this out some more. after 11 years of my link it says I can't use it anymore. Blogger has put some other link name for me to use...which is me but not what I want to use...I was so depressed yesterday that i just said the heck with the whole blog thing. At this point I don't know what I will do. Son Steve even tried to help me on Mother's Day..He's a whiz at techie stuff and couldn't get me back to my Classic Blog either. Boo
End of rant !! I want my Email to be what it was originally belfry@wavecable.com not gmail

Plastic reusable baggie with mask....latex gloves for hands...sanitizer AND lotion in car. I also have a can of lysol in the garage to spray my shoes before coming inside(always spray outside, the spray is not good for the dogs).

I long for the days when we could just go shopping...and come home without all the hub bub! I do believe those days are gone tho...

Thanks for the visual, I think. haha. Sounds like you had it all under control.
Mask on the front door knob but haven't gone anywhere I had to wear it. The RG wears one when necessary. Sanitizer here and there. He shops and there are things coming by mail so I wash my hands more than in the past but with no particular routine about it.
I miss corporate worship, and fellowship with my church family.
We support sensible precautions but refuse to become paranoid.

At the grocery store I go to, carts are wiped with a sanitizing cloth before a customer can use them, there is a hand wash station, which you are asked to use, before entering the store. AS for bathrooms, I think all of them are closed and not available to the public right now.

Girl I am like you. I know eventually things will get better - but for now I am wearing a mask.
I do order my groceries from WalMart - they put them in the back of my car - I have no contact with them.
Get home - spray them all with Lysol when i get home - wait about an hour - and then take them out of the car and put them on a sanitized counter and put away.
Feel a little like Howard Hughes!
I am okay with that.

Masks and keep my distance, don't touch anything, wear my gloves but have hand sanitizer and hope I don't have to go to the bathroom while I am out. I would never keep my balance :)

I love all that you do to stay safe. I don't have any hand sanitizer, maybe I should try again now to see if I can find some. I use the wipes that you use for your counter tops. Then I wipe down the car door handles and steering wheel, keys and all that I have touched. I don't go out very much. Had to go to WM pharmacy yesterday because the drive thru didn't work. Other than that I haven't been in a store since March 14.

I do wipe everything down that I get from Amazon and others. First I let it sit outside for a day or two, depending on what's inside. Then I let it sit in my second bedroom, where I just found out mice has discovered a stash of mine. Oh, well, it will be dealt with.

Great post, sounds like me. I do try to avoid a bathroom if I can!

So I hear with rubbing alcohol and aloe ver jell people have made their own hand sanitizer. I know my brother has and a friend of mine as well. But thats the new norm. Put on mask at store, sanitize hands when you get in the car, wash hands when you get home then repeat. Clever poem, but then again, your a clever girl!! I did Walmart shopping with an app on my phone. It was pretty cool, you pull into a special parking space and they bring out your order and load it in your car for you. They will even deliver. I kinda like it. I have yet to use a public restroom since all this went down, but I go into stores very often.
Take care my friend and keep doing what you're doing!
