New Blogger.. hummm

For those of you on Wordpress, this is a blogger issue. You can fade out now or read on.

When there are problems with Blogger, I go to the forums and I did this with the issue in creating a post that makes the line jump double space and not single space. Above is the email I received from forum. I am typing this and going all the way to the end and it does single space. But if you hit enter here

this is where it goes.... and if you try to do single space hit enter here

it goes here.  ( the issues in new blogger is getting your post to single space where you want it to)

Guess what? I got an email that says if you hit Shift/Enter it will go
HERE.  It does single space.

they do not intend to fix this at this time... Lots of people are fussing... Just climb on board and hit
Shift/enter to single space....

SHIFT KEY and ENTER KEY to single space

Now is your chance to air your griefs  with blogger...😋 I am happy to say, they now have added Search in already published posts on dashboard.

UPDATE after reading Yamini comment,

after you click in the post to start typing, look to your left and see the word paragraph, click on that and change to normal and it will be WELL, NORMAL. so why did they not answer the question on the forum. who knows, we don't.

Actually, it's a lot easier than that. If you look at the toolbar on the editor once you have placed the cursor in the entry box, you will see a tab that says "Paragraph". This is the standard input for the publishing industry. For us good old fashioned typists, however, it is necessary to click on that tab and change the layout to "Normal" (bottom of the drop-down list). it's a pain, but this is bringing Blogger into line with platforms such as Medium, where standardised output is enforced. You are the teacher of us all!!! If not for you, I think a lot of people over the years would just have given up.

It's easy to use the paragraph normal tab instead of shift enter. I don't know why Blogger changed their interface...there isn't the option of wysiwyg any more. At least I can't find it.

Hello,

I do not like the new blogger, but I am putting up with it!

I will try what you and YAM have suggested. Thanks!

Enjoy your day!

thank you thank you (and Yami). I have been disturbed by the line spacing but with current 'stuff' haven't taken the time to investigate.
The RG is having knee replacement surgery tomorrow. Prayers appreciated.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It has not bothered me enough for me to try to find an answer, but I am still glad to know.

Sooooo glad you don't mind researching this stuff! Like Rose just said, it's not bugged me enough ... yet. Choosing my battles! I'm darn appreciative when friends like you make things simpler for the rest of us.

I wish they would stop fixing things that aren't broken to begin with!

I am worried about my brain Sandra. I have been using this new format - and I don't remember having any problem with spacing. Am I nuts? YES!

I have been doing a few post on new blogger since they said they were gonna change...eventually. Lately anytime I went to post new blogger automatically came up but I clicked revert to legacy...woohoo. Then all of a sudden on Thursday that options was no longer available....so I guess I'm now on new blogger. Thus far I've found my way around ok!!

Sandra, Thanks to you and Yamini for these helpful tips. I can no longer revert to legacy blogger so will need to get used to the features and oddities of this "new" blogger interface. Many people are unhappy with it and for some good reasons too, but since it will be the standard going forward it will hopefully get better and friendlier to use.

This made me crazy this morning when I was posting.
I really wasn't sure what to hit or not.
I really don't like how it compresses the photos and all the manipulations to get it sort of right.
We'll see how I survive this latest change that we certainly didn't need in the first place..
End of rant..

It seems to me it would make more sense to do a single space with enter and to use the shift space for double spaced

Uh oh, you're scaring me. Guess I haven't encountered the New Blogger yet.

I, as usual, have no idea what you are talking about!

I don't use Blogger, but I agree with Ann. It would make more sense to use enter for single space, shift enter for double space. How hard would that be for them to do? It would be a lot easier to remember because it's so much more sensible.

I had this problem with line spacing in one post. It didn't happen in the second one so I am keeping my fingers crossed, but I will bookmark your info so that I can go to it if I do. Thanks Sandra :)

I think I knew the shift/enter thing, but I still find myself struggling a lot with posts with multiple images, both with the uploading and then getting the images, texts and spaces where I want them... Not to mention there seems to be no text size option quite the size that I would prefer... (sigh)

Thank you because I had no clue how to get it to single space since they changed formats. - Also when you upload photo now you can upload more then one but it won't keep them all in the file like it use to and I have to keep going back to find them in my files which is frustrating.
