I am turning into my "mother". Mother never met a container she did not wash and keep.
It it wasn't cardboard, she washed it and kept it. I made fun of her all the time.
Our TG meal from KFC had mashed potatoes in these two bowls.
I washed and put in the cabinet.
As I washed I looked at my table, which looked like My Mothers Table.
The next day I put it all where it goes
Before I reached OLD AGE, which sadly I find overrated, nothing ever sat out of place.
nothing was draped on a chair or any other thing.
the end tables were dust free and nothing on them but a lamp and a candle.
What happened to me I said to myself.
OLD Age is what I answered to me.
PS... I did have a reason for saving the bowls, they are perfect to put the left overs of the turkey dinner I did not cook in to freeze, and then pop in the microwave.
Note! if you try this, take off the lid before microwave, the bottom survived, the lid did not.

Well, they ARE nice bowls with lids. It is hard to resist.
My apartment is a mess right now too. Other things have been getting in the way and everything takes longer to do now, so I don't worry about it.
I do that too, such jars and containers are great for the pups when we are on the way ;O) ...mark says anyway I'm like my mother when I have to show him what he did wrong LOL
I have special bowls with lids for the microwave!
I have decided not to use the "plastic shit" anymore!

I take after my mom also when it comes to re-using containers. Anything with a lid! Have a super week!
I probably would have saved them too. When I cook I usually have too much and get tired of it after a few days. Having containers to freeze some for another day is always nice.
I have plastic containers up the wazoo! Rarely use them, but continue to save them 'cause one day they'll come in handy. But, you know, plastic is not biodegradable, so they might be "come in handies" for generations to come.
I just simply do not have room to keep long term. But if something has a tight lid, I keep it to use to pour old grease or oil, etc. Then put it in the garbage.
I save all containers too but for me it's because I'm often sending food off with one of the kids. I used to be the queen of clean, not even close anymore.
BOL MOL in spite of all our efforts our rearing comes out every so often.
I too save containers; however, I draw the line a saving plastic utensils.

My mother did the same thing -- with her little Sarah Lee trays and oleo containers. Much to my dismay (sorry!), Tom's just like you. I dunno, there's just something I find annoying about trying to thoroughly dry my plastic ware. Give me empty glass jars any day ... but watch out. I've begun hoarding those, too.
We recycle!! By using the containers! I quit saving Cool Whip and Cottage Chesse containers though.Whatever I saved usually ruined because I forgot what I had put in it!
they are nice bowls. i too save containers i try keeping my house neat and tidy. unfortunately, i'm overwhelmed by mountains of stuff everywhere in my house. and i don't like dusting.

Well, you certainly made me laugh with your post today.
My mother in law was the Queen of Keep...more containers than you could shake a stick at...I usually keep glass jars etc. if they have a lid and put grease in them and all the goo from big dinners like Thanksgiving. I finally don't keep the cool whip things any longer. They become mystery food after a while because I can't see in them.
I was shocked to see how cluttered my home is when looking at the photos Steve took the other day. We definitely have a "lived in " house. It actually made me put a few things away. We have been looking for quite a few years for cabinets to put on each side of the hutch in my "office". Then I could hide all the paperwork and stuff I need on a daily basis. The ones we have found are either much too expensive or don't fit or are just plain ugly.
Lucky kids when they have to clean out our house after we are gone!!
Oh well, we are happy in our mess and now with me decorating the tree there is so much more "Debris"...as Linda would say.
Today is ornament time and maybe tomorrow a picture or two of the finished project.

I just wrote a long comment and then I hit something on this laptop and it all disappeared. It's not the first time this has happened. Oh, well, I don't even remember what I said so I can't write it again. I guess I was agreeing about old age. Oh, and I said: I hope the lid didn't melt on the turkey you got, but didn't want, and didn't cook. And, one more thing, I wish we had KFC here, but we don't.
I would have a hard time throwing things like that away, but with my son living with me, he tends to question if i really need another empty container . He is right, I don’t .
Heck, I've been saving those kinds of containers for YEARS. BTW, Chinese take-out containers are great to send leftovers home with family WHEN AND IF WE EVER SEE THEM AGAIN!!! Oh the reheating trick...NEVER use the lid. But all this tells me you're not old...you're still a kid!...:)jp
This gave me a smile, I have a hard time throwing anything away that I think will come in useful sometime, especially for freezing food or sending food home with people.
I find I'm the opposite...I used to keep any container we received, because...you just never know, right?? Then we moved from Texas to California, and I realized I hadn't used half of the containers I had kept...and they were either given r thrown away.
Now, whenever I think about keeping a container, I ask myself if I would really use it...and usually end up throwing it away.
Just don't ask me about my basket collection LOLOLOL!
My aunt kept every plastic container and even washed out ziplock bags!
I myself have kept a few delivery ones like you did. They are really nice ones for leftovers.
