Stranger than Fiction

Enter the Twilight Zone with me for a moment, my stranger than fiction attempt to buy a desktop computer from Walmart. I logged on and chose what I wanted, it said You can pick this up today, click here to choose your times.
The choice was 6 or 7 pm same day. I chose 7 am next day.
sound bite HERE for Twilight zone if you are unfamiliar

My email lit up with activity Immediately when I clicked submit order and a pop up said Sorry, the card you used has been declined.
WHAT?
2 emails from Walmart stating order declined.
2 from my bank card saying call the fraud line, suspicious activity on your card caused us to put it on hold.
I grab the card, and a really nice lady said,
Wal-Mart is having issues with on line fraud of people using others cards, we just need to verify you made this transaction. Large $$ amounts ON LINE triggers it to decline until we approve
If you made this purchase, say yes, I said yes I did.
She said it is clear, you may go back and resubmit and it will go through.
YAY! after a heart attack induced my fraud fright, I summited.
I received 5 emails from Walmart.
The first one is at the top. advised we received your order, Pick Up time is Wed AM 7 am.
2nd email telling me how to download the app that is needed for them to TRACK me as I travel.
2 email is instructions on how to tap the app when I leave home, that alerts them and they can track my travel and have it ready as soon as I park in the designated space and call the number on the post, giving them car color, open trunk, remain in car, no contact with staff please.
the other two were wecome to blah blah blah.

I went to bed and could not turn of the fretter... Even reading did not shut it down.
Buyers remorse, why did I do this? That is a lot of money, why did I pay and extra hundred to have touchscreen on a desk top, I don't need it I want it.
Will I be able to use the app, follow instructions, I am an SUV, it is cold, how long will I sit there with the back open.
at 3:30 AM, I felt a tap on my foot. Bob does this when he wants me to wake up.
Bob was asleep, the dog was asleep, so who tapped my toe.
I wander down the hall, take my pill that I have to wait 30 minutes before coffee, sit down at Tablet and check email.

WHAT???????  I can't pick up my order that kept me up all night, no reason given, just this generic email.
At first I am MAD, then I think, This is a Sign. I should not do this and I feel relieved.
Then I get mad, then I feel relieved.
Did I tell you I spent 2 hours each day, 3 days in a row, a total of SIX hours researching best prices for biggest bang for the buck because what I wanted is about 2000 and aint gonna happen.
So what did I do?
All day Wed I searched and searched. Bob said there are 5 Walmart's, call and see if they have one. I made one call and the young man on the phone  could not understand that i wanted to know if they had the HP 22 All In One Computer in stock?
I am NOT ashamed to say I hung up on him.
I am still stuck in the Twilight Zone of Computer buying and am buying NOTHING.
I had no idea that desktops had doubled and tripled since I bought mine 10 years ago.
They cost more than a laptop..
SORRY GUYS, BREVITY IS NOT A WORD IN MY VOCABULARY
THERE MAY BE MORE LATER

You must take a thyroid pill in the morning; so do I. And I have to wait 30 minutes before coffee or any food. WHY was your order cancelled? I cannot get a touch screen because of the arthritis in my shoulders. Can you imagine having to raise your arm each time you do something? Maybe this is why the fates didn't want you to buy it.

oh how bad that it didn't work... we noticed that all techie stuff is either expensive or sold out here... it seems we are not as independent from china as we think...

Hello,

I think it is fate! My orders have been wacko, from Amazon I ordered a indoor exercise bike, they sent me a floor mat that you put under a chair. Then I ordered it from Walmart and the track number said they sent it to NY instead of my state of MD.
I give up! I have a hard time talking to representatives that do not speak English. I hope you find the computer you want. Take care, have a happy day!

I am so sorry for that ...

What a frustrating ordeal all around. The email is very generic since they say we know your grocery order is important. That would have confused me since groceries weren't ordered.

I'd be livid. But, then again, I'd be relieved.

What an ordeal! It sounds pretty typical for these days though.

Well, the ordering/cancellation part is jolly frustrating, for sure... at least they notified you. A couple of orders I made on dad's behalf back in the autumn just never turned up and it was only after waiting an extra week then actually calling them that I discovered they had been out of stock and cancelled the orders. A shame from a place that I had reviewed online as being excellent service!!!

...and I just lost nearly an hour going down the rabbit hole of looking at all-in-one desktops. Over here they are much the same price as a decent laptop, but probably stronger CPU and processing per buck. (as and aside, I wouldn't go for a Celeron processor myself - have experienced them and they wear out pretty quick - but then I am quite a heavy user... the Intel Core i3 would be the minimum...) I may be in the market for one before too long; Voovoo the Vaio is getting on a bit, but if I had a desktop to carry most of the day to day stuff, it might extend her life a bit more for when I actually need to travel - or be in a different room. YAM xx

Oh Sandra - I have been in that Wal Mart Zone. Trust me. And I have had to call for fraud on big purchases too. It is a strange time we live in. Good luck.

Oh ya, definitely Twilight Zone. (The original used to be one of my favorite shows.) So, they just canceled your order with no explanation? I'd be so angry.
Wow on those prices! Okay, I'm going to throw something out randomly. Back in 1997(98?) I decided to buy my first computer, and the man I was dating volunteered to have his brother in New York build me one. The price was right, and it arrived in short order as advertised. (Unfortunately, he's since passed away, or I'd try to put you in touch.)

It really is frustrating! We read and study and look at reviews until we are blue in the face. It's hard to spend the money unless it's exactly what you want. I hope something works out and you can give your fretter a rester!

This is enough to drive a person crazy. Laptops have gone up in price, too, though I guess you get more for you money. We are just alike in that we worry ourselves to death about that to buy, getting the most for our money, etc.

Golly, I hope today things work out better for you! xoxo

I'm still focused on who tapped you on the toe :0

That all sounds really REALLY frustrating. We don't have Walmart here but I think I'd try a different company if were you?

I can sympathise as there are a lot of odd things going on at the moment. I too called the bank fraud department to report an issue. Transactions through online technology can create stressful situations. Hope you're having a better day today.

Good Grief!!
That's terrible customer service and I just don't get it...either it's there or not...and it's not a grocery order..obviously the right hand and the left hand don't know what each other is doing.
Been there with my email address too.
Modern technology...can't live with it or without it.
I did send you an email a few minutes ago.

It's frustrating just reading this. So sorry this happened to you. That was a horrible experience if you ask me! So many hoops to go through.

Oh, my goodness!! You are fit to be tied! Why is it you want a desktop so badly? Just curious.....did you know I smothered my last desktop? Yup! I wanted to hid the tower and so I put a tablecloth over the entire desk. Did you knw that the tower needs to have air circulating around it? I smothered it and felt awful. Louis Dean bought me a laptop and I think it works best for me.

Oh my, that sounds like a very frustrating ordeal. We suggest that you check with your credit card company to be sure no transaction actually occurred. We hope you can find that computer somewhere with reliable customer service:)

A maddening experience, enough to make your blood boil. Perhaps someone was trying to tell you not to get it, by tapping your toe and waking you up. Perhaps it's just not to be!

LOL! I totally feel your pain about the numerous emails and CNCL email from Walmart. I recently went through a similar thing with something I ordered...it was a riot!!! It's really very scary that we are in the hands of clerical errors often times!...Good luck with the laptop...try BJs or COSCO...they have good deals...:)jp
