Rebel To The Bone

Monochrome is my thing,

Matchy Matchy is my thing.

My bathrooms were built in 1972, Tile in one is green, and the other is gold.
70's Green 70's Gold
Those colors were OUT of fashion when we bought the house in 1989.
The bathrooms had wall paper with tiny print that matched the gold, everything else was white
I bought white shower curtains and window curtains and until The plumbing went awry 10 years ago, they remained that way
I am cheap to the bone and if something is good and doesn't need to be replaced I work with it,
Fought the wall paper off, and Painted the walls Gold and Green.
I also nagged The Man into painting the ceilings the same color as the walls.
NO ONE DOES THAT is what I was told.
Ceilings must be white.
I love monotone, I love Matchy Matchy.
My bathroom has 6 shades of Green and a lot of white.
I love it and I love the no one paints the ceiling Green.
It makes me happy.
Even the tile the man put down is shades of green.
Rebel to the Bone is what I am.
Cheap to the bone is what I am
I yam what I yam and that's all that I Yam.. Popeye the Sailorman

Also, I have been wearing the same shade of nail polish for 20 years. Yes it is out of fashion.
I love it and hate the new colors.
there is a RANT about HGTV in a prior post which tells me I painted the walls in 2013. It has a photo of the gold bathroom.

The gold bathroom is very pretty, sort of a muted light gold. I have read to paint your ceiling the same color as the walls because it makes the room look bigger and higher. This is something that decorators know. I like your color nail polish. I have all different colors...glitter, silver, gold, blue, purple. I like experimenting. But not now. I have bitten off all my nails and the skin and pulled out huge patches of hair, due to pandemic anxiety.

I haven't worn nail polish in almost 60 years. We get to decide for ourselves. I don't think of it as rebellion, to me it's common sense. If it doesn't hurt anyone else, do what makes us happy.

i always dreamed about green>&gold for a bathroom and i made it true with our house... it was 1997 and absolutely out of fashion... so we changed it 1998, but my dream came true...even at the wrong time ;O)

I'm cheap to the bone also. Who cares if something is outdated. If you like it then there's nothing wrong with it. I like that shower curtain.

The funny thing is, while I love watching house-hunting shows (esp British), I'm quite happy living in a rented apartment. I was fortunate to get new wallpaper in most of the rooms before I moved in (from a very limited collection). The bathroom is what it is, it has a green floor and white tiles, some with a bit of green decor. I'm quite happy with that, and bought shower curtains and towels etc to match. Had the floor been another colour, I'd have done the same - i.e. chosen textiles to match.
- I like that colour of nail polish, I use a similar one on my toenails in summer (in winter I don't always bother as no one sees my toes anyway)

I like the color of your bathroom and the shower curtain, looks pretty.
I have ugly toes, no one sees them. Take care, have a happy day!

The bathroom in our first house in UK was a delightful 1970's 'avocado' green (the bath, hand basin and toilet all). It was only marginally more delightful than the pink set in the next house. Strangely when we pulled the pink toilet out (because F painted the room pea green - including the ceiling) a bloke bought the toilet and handbasin to put in the men's WC of his pub. Apparently the décor around it was army camouflage.....

All of those were better than the grey bath that we encountered....

I did not watch those shows a lot, but I did see some of them every now and then. Remember when the term going green became part of the vocabulary? There was a show that showed people replacing perfectly good/functional things with greener options...which to me was just the opposite of being "green'...

I think your bathroom looks great. I'm the same way, if something works it's not getting replaced, I don't care how outdated it is. I've been wearing the same color nail polish for at least 30 years now!

FIRST, I'm loving your shimmery floor tile! And for the record, I'd move into your bathroom in a heartbeat. It looks exactly like one of the homes I saw on-line and fell in love with. Then, when we flew out it was already under contract.
I've not worn nail polish in 10 years, and do well if I keep them trimmed and out of my mouth.

I say, if it makes you happy? Do it!

Green is a very relaxing and peaceful color. Which to me is perfect for 100 years in places like bathrooms or bedrooms where we like to feel peace

There is cheap and then there is savvy creativity. Your lovely bathroom definitely falls into the second category!

I really like the soft green in your bathroom..
Why not have the colors you want?
You're the ones that use those rooms.
Frugal is good...it's the only way to survive in this day and age.

I say, it's your house and so you can paint whatever color you want wherever you want it. Rules are meant to be broken.

Just as long as there is plenty of blue and/or teal, I am happy. Also, our carpet is gold.

I like your not a slave to decorative fashions on HGTV, because I think your bathroom looks pretty. I like that white cabinet.

Ceilings are usually white but they are now putting wallpaper on ceilings as an accent. Not on the walls although they do still use wallpaper at times on the wall, especially in a dining room. I see nothing wrong with painting the ceiling the same color as the walls. I'm glad you can still find the color of the nail polish.
