Nope not Steppin to the Music, but steppin in my clothing.
While Beau or Bob wait for me to put on my going out of the house clothing, either to walk Beau or dive Bob, they wait impatiently.
It takes me Many Steps.
Four pieces of clothing to step in.
2 steps for sport bra, 2 steps for underpants 2 steps for diaper 2 steps for leggins.
that is 8 steps!
NOPE! it comes to many more.
First I need to be some where I can hold on to or sit down to do it.
Each hole I want my foot to go in, will not go in on the 1st step,
the above is the illustration, I try to put my foot in, put it down, try to put my foot in put it down, sometimes as many as 4 tries per hole to put the foot through.
I come out and say to Bob
Today I only had to step in 3 times each to get dressed.
I found that if I pump my knee up and down 2 or 3 times before trying to insert in the proper place, I can do it the first try.
BUTT that means it takes me 10 minutes to put my clothes on and Beau Woos and Bob Sighs.....
Life as a Senior, goes on. and on.
the thing is i can do the steps with music but not high enough to fit in the clothes.
do any of you struggle to get dressed? Tell me I am NOT ALONE

Me me me!! I have to hold onto something to get dressed. And sometimes lose my balance. Cannot bend my knees much because they don't have cartilage anymore and are both bone on bone. And the tops are not much better, as I have two torn rotator cuffs and a big hump on my back.
It's not as easy as it used to be. But I lean against my bed to put my feet into pants. I don't have problems with the top half yet!
you are not alone... two wild howling hungry pups behind me and with half closed eyes it becomes a challenge.... and if I think I'm done, I miss my slipper, what landed somewhere in the house at an odd place (magic?)...
Even with AC, I find the worst time to put feet/legs thru to dress is after a shower. Even towel drying doesn't keep clothes from sticking!!
Hello,
I tend to lose my balance, I will lean on something like the bed before lifting one leg. I have to try some balance exercises?
Take care, have a happy day!
I normally sit on my cedar chest in the morning to get dressed. It's not really for ease of operation, it's more because I'm not fully awake and don't want to stand.
I agree with Anni about trying to get dressed right after a shower.
I have been having problems with pants for far too long...I can, or could as always do one leg without leaning or holding on. But always have to be grounded for the other leg. No problem so far with tops.
How cute is this?!?! Needs put to music!
Yep, more often than not, I've come close to falling. The worst thing? When sweet Macie Ann (aka, my personal assistant) stands too close, a couple times my foot coming up has hit her on the underside of her jaw. Forget about socks -- that requires sitting on the side of the bed, bending down and hoping the girls don't smother my glasses with their kissies.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
'Sall I'm prepared to share on that one! YAM xx
You are not alone! I have to sit on the bed to dress. Wearing muumuus at home helps, but dressing for work or errands is tough. I like the photo montage you made, very cute!
Good goggly gook I think you need to find at least one of the garments that doesn't require steps. That is a lot stepping. tHANK GOODNESS YOUR TOP GOES OVER YOUR HEAD.
MOL LOL BOL

Well, Sandra, last week was rough…hurt my back & right thigh. However, I’m on the mend was am able to be “sort of normal”…moving slowly but no holding on. Don’t push yourself…I have learned THAT if anything!!!…jp
YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I hate getting dressed - lol - those leggings are a JOB!
I'm in agreement with everybody...
I do The Hookey Pokey every morning. Ya put your right foot in..ya put your right foot out, put your right foot in and you dance all about...
Sue
I usually do all of my dressing sat on the edge of the bed, not falling over then.

I wear loose ( baggy) clothing so no problems here. Not fashionable but comfortable and easy.
Mom says she learned to take a seat when it comes to putting on pants or shoes or socks after she had that nasty fall and broke her arm:(

Wouldn't think of snapping on as much as a l'il ol' hair clip without hanging on to something. Sense of balance departed decades ago. You are not alone.
I wear jeans so no problem there. But now that cold weather is here, I seem to have a very hard time getting a jacket and even my warm vest on. I have in the past broken both my arms and that, combined with old age, is the reason, I guess. I also have a problem with these socks I got right before K-Mart packed up and left town. My toes will not cooperate and slide in nice and easy. The way they have done for all of the rest of my long life. I know have hammer toes, so maybe that's why.
I read some of the comments above and now I wonder why people don't sit down and get dressed, pants, under panties, tops, it all works so easily when you sit on your bed and get dressed. Just sayin....
Getting older is definitely not for the weak of heart!!
All good tips. I usually sit on the bed to stop falling over, lol!
That's a lot of steppin! Of course I totally get it and can relate to it.
