Every year at Christmas this powder puff bush, big as a tree, blooms for about 2 months. this year is the biggest it has ever been. once a year bob cuts it down to 4 feet from the ground, but due to knee problems it is now 3 years old. There are more than one thousand blooms right now and each bloom has a bee,
The tree hums and we giggle while Beau stands in front of it cocking his head side to side listening to the bees.
This year it is approximately 12 feet tall and 18 feet wide. on one limb, I counted 12 blooms and 23 buds soon to bloom.
Sorry Rosy, we have no Roses for you for Nature Friday, but Powder Puffs are pretty too, just like you.

Oh I say... I think these are the best pics you have taken of the bee tree yet! YAM xx
I still have a lot of close-ups of your Powder Puff buds and blooms in my photo folder. I was going to make a collage of them and do something with it, but never got around to it. This reminds me! Reminds me of Mimosa trees.
Beautiful!!!
Clearly there are advantzges to living in a 'jungle' environment and pretty plant life is one of them. (Concrete jungles like ours, not so much.) Is there anywhere you can buy local honey? Honey made by bees that might hzve visited your tree? Xxx Mr T
wow that's a beautiful bush/tree.... we would love it... but with bee's it would bee a challenge with our bee hunters...
Wow, that did get big but those blooms are simply gorgeous. I wouldn't want all those bees around though
Wow, I love all the blooms. The Powder Puff plant and blooms are beautiful.
Take care, have a great day and a happy weekend!
So aptly named. It's beautiful.
Hello Sandra, Your Powder puff blooms are so beautiful. Before they bloom they remind me of raspberries, but when in full bloom they are magnificent, and the bees enjoy visiting them. No wonder someone called it a bee tree.
Honey bees (Apis melis) fly about 3 miles from their hive (6 mile round trip for a pinhead sized amount of nectar). They then semi-digest the nectar to extract moisture and concentrate it into honey which is stored in their honeycomb storage devices. Don't even try to work out how many trips that is for a teaspoon of the concentrated stuff; it is the kind of calculation that makes your brain ache.

They are so, so beautiful! I would love to see them in person.
Gorgeous! With a back yard like yours, who'd ever want to leave home?
I love this for so many reasons...and RED being my first
What a beautiful flower
Hugs Cecilia
Stunning Sandra and the bees must be very happy.
A bee tree - why I'll be. It is beautiful! He has to be careful about getting stung!
The blooms are beautiful, Sandra, but the bees would be avoided by myself. Hopefully Beau won't get too curious about their buzzing as a bee-stung nose would not be pleasant.
Those are incredible photographs. What a beautiful bush!
Glorious! Your description of Beau listening to the bees made me smile from ear to ear. Great photos! Hope you two are well and that Bob is recovering from his knee op.
gorgeous puffs of beauty.
I love that they look like raspberries before they "explode"
Never seen them in person though.
Hope its a good day for you, Bob and Beau.

They're beautiful! Thank you for the pictures.
To answer your question..no the sprinkler wasn't on..It had rained all night and was still raining on and off when we opened the door.
Dave called and filed a complaint. UPS is going to deliver new items..not the private delivery service from Staples.
I can't imagine someone being that lazy and not caring at all about the company.
Logic says one doesn't set something down on the wet walkway when a dry spot is only a mater of moving the feet 3 more steps.
That tree is putting on a beautiful show for you.
That tree is amazing!!!! Thank you for sharing!
Never seen blooms like that before. The Powder Puffs are so pretty.

That is impressive and so beautiful. We have several areas in the yard with bees and it makes me feel so happy that they have a place to gather their nectar without chemicals around. We need bees!!
