Seniors Take Down on Thankful Thursday

You many remember this giant powder puff bush from a few weeks before Christmas. It has now gone from 16 feet tall and big as a truck to 4 foot tall.

I woke up this morning, not feeling fine,
I woke up this morning with Stand Up on my mind.
I woke up with pain in my soul
I woke up feeling really old.
While bending and stooping to pick up what Bob cut down,
I counted the times I bent down and it made me start to frown.

Ok right here I will forget the rhyme, it hurts my brain which means more pain
added to the old person pains.
I bent to the ground ,I stood up with branches in both hands and dragged them to the front gate that can't be opened, lifted my arms with said branches over my head to toss over the six foot fence creating a huge pile in the front yard by the fence.

When he was done hacking on the sea grape, he went to the powder puff and sawed some more.
whilst the man used the chain saw
I walked out the 1st  gate to the 2nd gate and over to the 3rd gate that will not open.
Once again I bent to the ground, grabbing branches and dragging 20 feet to the curb.

Yes, I did count the times I bent over in the back yard and then doubled that because I had to do it twice.
it took 60 bend overs, 30 tosses which means I did 120  bend over's
But Wait! there is MORE! I did 40 more bend overs to drag powder puff limbs to the curb which required dragging through 2 gates and limbs getting caught on lawn mowers and other assorted crap he keeps between the fences.
Total bend overs were 200 and add in 30 tosses over my head, a lot of HBO words and
Total Exhaustion was where we both were and ARE as  I type these words.
I did NOT count how many times Bob raised the saw over his head but if I did what I did it was a LOT

We are now singing this song that popped in my head this morning when we woke up not feeling FINE.

We were/are Not feeling fine but still love this old song PLUS it gives me something to be Thankful for on Brian's Thankful Thursday. I am thankful the bushes are hacked back to grow again, I am thankful at 77 and 85 years of age, we are up moving and talking, walking and typing stories.
Not Bad For Seniors, we are past the pains, this was done last week on Friday

I woke up this morning feelin’ fine.
I woke up with Heaven on my mind.
I woke up with joy in my soul,
‘Cause I knew my Lord had control.
Well, I knew I was walking in the light,
‘Cause I’d been on my knees in the night;
And I’d prayed ‘til the Lord gave a sign,
And now I’m feeling mighty fine.

MAN, you must be so SORE and STIFF!! You are doing better than me, it is too hard for me to even bend to the floor. I have Phil or a grabber. I still have a folder full of pics of your Powder Puff bush!

That is exactly why we moved into a retirement village so that someone else could do the work for us. You are good souls for doing it and it probably keeps you fit if it doesn't kill you.

Not many people do 120 toe touches in a day let alone carry extra weight on the way back up. It is well established that working in nature is a wayyyyyyy better work out then going to the gym. You will have exercised absolutely everything including your mental and spiritual self. Your grandmas water reminded me of a family member who lived on a farm where water arrived from a river, in an open race. When wind blew from NorthWest (not unlike a Chinook; a fohn wind) it picked up dust from the dry hillsides and much ended up in the water race. The bath water looked like mud. I remember seeing the bath filling but have blanked the memory of washing in it.

we hear you... we have this work to do soon too... I think I will pick: working in a coal mine or sixteen tons for that day ;O))

It would have taken me forever to do that. I don't bend over because I try to practice safe moves for my back. If I need to pick something up I kneel down, then carefully keep my back straight when I get up with it. I would be a complete bust at moving those branches. Take care and recover soon! We love you and want you to feel good. ❤️

The pruning and tidying of your yard must have been strenuous work. I hope you are taking a rest now. Take care both of you.

I got a bit of a twinge in my back just from reading about all this work. When I do stuff like this it doesn't seem so bad while I'm doing it but boy does it hit me the next day.

Wow, that was a lot of work. Now you need a day of rest.
I am sure you are sore. I take nothing for granted, I am thankful I am here.
Take care, enjoy your day!

Good grief, girl! I only did a fraction weed pulling/sticks gathering last week and hobbled around complaining all the next day. Do you have a Tens unit? My son gave one to Tom for Christmas, but he's not supposed to use it for a year after spinal surgery. Anne at Phamily blog says she and her hubby each have their own and swear by them.

I never heard this song before, but sure enjoyed it. When you first wrote, "When I woke up this morning..." I started singing. Only what I was remembering was the one by We Five.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna replay it and dance around the room. Ha!

Hubby is feeling those kinds of pains from similar chores a couple days ago. Doesn't go away as quickly anymore. Loved the words to the song, but as usual my ignorance kicked in and couldn't get the volume to kick in! Good job in practicing thankfulness!

I am in awe of you and Bob because you are both in good enough shape to be able to tackle these chores!!!!

Ahhh..Thankful Thursday...I am thankful that you and Bob are still doing those kinds of achy pain types of jobs.
You two sound like Dave and I..work and chop until we drop...
Love the Cathedrals and that song.

Oh wow, you have a calling, you should be writing cards for Hallmark ;) I love these, not the aches and pains you are having but your prose. Hope you're feeling fine real soon.

Yard work!! Bob is so energetic! I know it entails a lot of work (and pain), but oh the results are worth the efforts afterward.

You certainly do have a lot to be thankful for. That is a lot of work for anyone of any age, but even more as we get older. I Love,Love,Love that song. Of course I am also a huge fan of the Cathedral Quartet.

You and Bob are brave souls! I hope you both got some rest after all that. I work out with my old videos of Jack LaLanne. Somedays I wonder if I will come back up from the floor. Beautiful song share. THANK YOU
