Staghorn and Rain Tree from our front porch

The morning sun shining on the staghorn fern in the front yard. There are more pics/stories of it in the link.

It has been hanging under the Oak Tree in the front yard since 2006 when my son and his wife moved to Tennessee and could not take it with them. it was about half this size then, she inherited 2 of them from a deceased Aunt.

The tree it hangs in current view and the rest of the photos were taken from our front porch

The beautiful tree in the middles is a Golden Raintree

The tree is drought tolerant as you can see by its color during our drought conditions.

Golden Rain Tree AKA Koelreuteria elegans subsp. formosana. in WIKIPEDIA

Our trees from Space as shown on Google Earth.. When we purchased the house they were half this size

What a beautiful healthy looking staghorn fern…..it’s ‘antlers’ are magnificently long so it is obviously in the right spot……and you are very lucky not to have light-fingered people in your neighbourhood, ones who would covet a great specimen like that
Take care

Is yours the only property with trees in your neighbourhood? What a great green space you have. Cathy is right about your good fortune that no one has filched the fern but maybe no one has a tree to hang it in. xxx Mr T

Hello,

You have a nice wooded lot now. I love the trees and the beautiful Staghorn. It does look healthy. Take care, enjoy your new week ahead.

Shaded and serene! Staghorn is a prized item - and heavy, I guess if someone did take a fancy to it, they'd need a big trailer and at least two sturdy men to shift it... which would cut down on any burglary stealth! YAM xx

In our city...in all neighborhoods, your fern would be stolen. What a wonderful plant!

I love that Staghorn fern....always have.

Love the views from your porch. You have more tree, as in your trees have sure grown if they were half that size. We have fewer trees, since we have had to cut them down. I miss them, but don't miss worrying about when it storms. The big one was really rotten in the middle.

I'd never heard of a staghorn before meeting you, but what a handsome fellow! Isn't Google Earth a fun tool? I'll bet your yard is the prettiest on the block.

I have always loved the look of the Staghorn. I even tried growing one, inside of course, but it didn’t do well.

Fun to see your place from Google Earth. I haven't looked at ours for a very long time.
Neat Stag Horn fern too. I remember you showing it before. It really has grown.
Yesterday was a success at Lynne's and today we have Dave's eye appointment. Here's hoping our car will start and get us there on time.
