The view when we look up is above and a little further up is below. there is no way to get the 100 foot wide fence and all the trees we see when each day at noon, we eat lunch and then sit in the chairs by the pool and this is the view we enjoy. This is the reason Florida is known as The Sunshine State.
Sunshine and blue sky and white clouds. Some of the trees are ours, others are on the other side of the fence. When we bought our house in 1989, there was one oak tree in the view from our deck.
Some we planted, the neighbor added Palms to the left, Birds added the ones to the right.
All the trees are on either side of the fence. All of them are drought resistant and require no water.
It makes no sense that in the drought, this jungle is thriving just over the fence in our back yard.
It gets the same water our yard does, and I think this proves that what God plants thrives and what man plants suffers. I am wondering if we just stopped caring for the yard at all it would thrive on its on because the yard above is a jungle, they have not been in that yard for about 10 plus years and it is thriving all by its self.
the tree below and most of what is in that yard are trees that birds planted. Yes, soon the power company will need to come and trim them. The power line is the top, the 2nd down is cable, the 3rd is nothing, it used to be the landline phones which no longer exist.
We have all the nature we can enjoy right outside our window. You can see the old oak tree in the background below.

It does look lush... YAM xx
Hello,
Your view is lush and beautiful, I love all the trees and the sky.
It is good to have drought resistant plants.
Take care, enjoy your day!
It is good to sit and enjoy a bit of nature...I without back some every day...watching the Robin's and sparrows and looking for Sweet Pea.
What great perspectives! That's crazy about the drought-resistant jungle!
I love that you and Bob sit outside together! Tom spends more time out back than inside -- but even after 8 years, whenever sit out there for more than a minute or two I still want a cigarette.
Gorgeous MS!! What a lovely canopy of greenery!!
Hugs Cecilia
Interesting jungle and drought resistant too. Of course your 4 inches of rain yesterday could help the plants along some too.
We're still weeding the backyard a bit at a time. Son Mark, Kellie and the girls gifted us with 2 hours of steady weeding while they were here.
What a difference and now we can proceed before everything goes to seed.
Plums are ripening but the pears are going to be few and far between this year. Apples will be minimal too. Such is the way of old orchard trees.
Hitting a real lull on eBay too. They changed their set up and its so difficult to see and sell.
Going to Lynne's today after missing 2 weeks.
At least its warm outside so we will pass some time out there.
Next blog post will be about Lynne and dancing at Amanda's wedding..quite amazing.

Fascinating to see what grows and thrives. Your garden is stunning, so tropical and one of the reasons I enjoyed our trips down to Florida. I hope we get down there again one day.
We still use our landline. I hate talking on cell phones. It's nice that you have things that are thriving in the drought. I know that California is going to have a lot of water restrictions coming. Sadly we can get water from places like Canada and they won't do it!! Mark is in Canada right now and thankfully the cabin on the island is up high. Everything else is under water. Is that a Norfolk Pine tree?
I really like your backyard...I really do love our backyard too!
Nice that there are so many trees that can withstand the drought. I just love seeing green trees.
possibly the fence assists the neighbours jungle - that's what happened here, the trees on their side seek the sun here but there isn't a true wide space for them - rather they hang over and obstruct access
We love love love green and jungles and wildness and nature taking charge. How do you encourage birds to do the same job on your side? Have you tried the panorzmz fezture on your pgone camera (do you have a panorama feature?) xxx Mr T
I love your backyard!
