The New Door Garage door

Precision Door, came on 11/1/2022 just 4 weeks after we ordered and were told
it would be 13 weeks before it came in.
He backed unloaded all his STUFF and , 2 sections of the old down in 15 minutes

Down and on the truck and strapped down tight.

New boxes in, and opened, all in 30 minutes.
Justins middle name must be Organized.
All by himself.

He got all the way 3 sections up, see above and below
and Boom!

The slow down began it took 3 hours to go from above to below! There are hundreds of bolts on this hurricane proof to 183 MPH.

When he went to hook up the motor that opens the door, a part was bent.
He called for a part, and 30 minutes later
two trucks were nose to nose

and it took both of them to get it done and out the door at the 5 and 1/2 hour mark.

And then The Final Inspection and he washed the two trucks and tucked them in the garage
and I came in to shower off and create this post.
The Door Is Back and Working
BUT for one thing.
The county waived the permits and the permit will come in the mail to ME in a week and I have to CALL the County with in 160 days and set up an appointment for them
to come and approve the permit.
BIG red Letters, its against the law to not get the permit.
Guess what else? they added the permit to my cost.
250.00
OV VEY!

I refuse to tell you what he was saying here

You have to have a permit to replace a garage door!? DUH!! But Hurrah, you have your garage back!! And early as well. What an awesome surprise it must have been!

I'm surprised they installed it without a permit. Hope you're not fined because of it.

we hope there is a solution or a way with that permit... and we welcome the new door ... has it a name? maybe Jimmy like the one from the doors?

Hello Beau,

I always enjoy seeing photo of you, you are beautiful in and of the sunshine.
You Mam should learn how to remove any blemishes with her photo editing.
HUGS, have a happy day!

The new door looks great, it is wonderful it came in early and they installed it quickly. I do not understand why you need a permit at all, you already had a door there, you were just replacing it. Take care, enjoy your day!

So glad your new garage door is in and working. I can use my imagination on what Bob is saying.
That's crazy about the permit. So they did the work but didn't get a permit first but they they charged you for it?
With work I've had done here, I just assumed that the people doing the work have taken care of getting the necessary permits.

Sounds like the stock they ordered arrived and they had a cash flow problem so fast forwarded fitting rather than waiting for permits being issued (probably from an office that is swamped under) before they began leaving you the responsibility of putting all the paper work in and obtaining the permit. Is that the going rate for a permit if you were doing the work yourself? Hopefully you don’t end up paying for it twice.

A permit??!!! In the UK, changing one's doors (or windows) is considered 'permitted development' (unless one is in a conservation area that may have restrictions on size or colour). Sigh... anyway, your new door looks fab. YAM xx

Nice to read and see the new garage door install, Sandra, but it did seem odd to me as well that the permit didn’t come first and yikes on that added expense.😕 Hope all goes well sith the inspection.

OMDs that is one sturdy garage door. Justin knew his business. Those are very long panels to manage but he had a good system. Bob I can read your mind from here...NO THERE IS NO WAY YOU COULDA SHOULDA tried that on your own

I know you are so happy to have the job done...and done well! It always takes a few 'words' to get it all back to normal! lol

What, no thought bubble coming out the back of Bob's head?
Gosh, what a job for one person (almost). 180 wind-proof? Something else I never considered, but glad there's that technology.
Boo-hiss on the City fathers (and mothers) for constantly asking for more $$$.

I never thought there would be a need for a permit to replace your storm damaged garage door...its not like new construction.
Costly addition but I'm so glad you have got it now and it is pretty much hurricane proof.
Love the picture of Bob..

i can't believe they make you pay for a permit for garage doors!!

Precision looks to have done a great job tho!

I'll copy what Ginny said! Hope it works out with the permit (which goes beyond my understanding too, why you need one)

Great account and photos of the installation. You must both be pleased that it's done. The paperwork sounds a bit of a hassle though.

The permit is highway robbery and should have been done before the work. What is they don't pass it?
They will - that m an did a fabulous job. I had no idea there were doors for hurricanes. They look GREAT!
