Downtown Fun @ Pier 22 Marina Restaurant

Our downtown is water front on the Manatee River. It is a marina and a resturant, on the water and accross the street is the library, hotels and our waterfront City Hall.

The marina has locked gates for each of the piers and though we can wander and enjoy and sit on benches, they marked the parking spots Marina only and put up no fishing signs.
People have fished there and parked there my entire life.
I GET it, but I don't like it.

The Restaurant is in the middle of the Marina but is open to the public.
I once had gator tail when our realtor/friend took us out to eat when we bought our house.
that was in 1989, the only other time I ate there was as a guest of the RE Broker I worked for.
She took the realtors that worked for her out for lunch.
That was in 1991.

So why did they stop allowing fishing? It's beautiful there. I love that second picture.

Hello,
We would they stop the fishing. I hope the restaurant has plenty of parking.
I love the palm trees, the sky and the photo of the boats. Take care, have a great day!

I tend to get antsy when owners of property like that think they can control the parking on the public road outside the said property. If the council had done it for traffic management, then okay... As for stopping the fishing, what do they own those too??? (Mind you, I have often thought when fishing is done around marinas and other port areas, have those catching them for food thought about all the pollution they might be carrying?) YAM xx

It's good to see the area where you live.

Chamber of commerce weather! It's a lovely spot, but I'm guessing the restaurant prices are 'up' there?
The first (and only) time I had gator tail was at St. John's Pass in '88 right shortly after moving to Florida. Not impressed.

It looks like Bermuda or the Carribean. I am glad for the no fishing. People go out in boats, and the roters cut the manatees. Also, the fish need a breather to re-populate. SO??? WHAT did the gator tail taste like. You knid of threw that out here as a "oh by the way". Big deal to me, and I hope you remember. I hope it was de-scaled and de-armoured!

Cool that you have a downtown water front. Sorry the gates are locked. Cool that you can walk about though. How was gator and did you ever order it again?

Such a pretty place. We would love for Mom to be able to walk us along the marina.

I don't get the No Fishing Signs. Did you like the gator tail? What was the texture like?

It's a pity they put up those signs. It's a lovely area! I remember seeing gator on menus but was never brave enough to try. My curiosity might push me forward if I ever get the chance again, maybe :)
