Brain in Training with OS (wordy wed)

Our Brain needs exercise, Physical and Mental. We all know we should play games, do puzzles, Yoga for the brain.
I have a brain exercise that is none of the above.

I have 5 devices that connect to internet.
Kindle Reader and I read 2 to 4 hours a day, several books a week.
I have not missed reading every day since I retired in 2006
iPhone 7 plus (Apple OS)
Desktop Computer (Windows 11)
Chromebook (chrome OS)
Cell Phone (android)
It is a rare day that I don't use every single operating system in all 4 devices. Just changing from Android to Apple phones many times a day and switching from laptop to desktop is a lot of Brain Exercises because nothing is the same on any of them.

I find myself trying to turn off the android phone by pushing where the button is on the iPhone and vice versa.  Deciding where and when to put the pointer finger, use the thumb to sign in, use the code on another and each device is locked requiring a code or print to get in.

My senior memory is nil to none, and I am hoping that all this switching will shore up the sagging memory cells.
what do you do to exercise your memory cells/brain?

I hope this found on Google search is true because in a few more months I should have a super brain memory surge.

Can you train your brain to change?
Practicing a new and challenging activity is a good bet for building and maintaining cognitive skills. Your brain has the ability to learn and grow as you age — a process called brain plasticity — but for it to do so, you have to train it on a regular basis.

The switching between devices makes F frustrated and grizzly which probably kills more brain cells than it promotes, but yes we do know about the last part and F tries to learn new skills or new ways of doing well established ones (like knitting left handed) to force different parts of her brain out of thinking they might retire. Well I do play some games on my tablet and on the desktop if that counts.

Just keeping active both mentally & physically is a power tool!!

I still do math in my head instead of relying on technology, read, experiment in baking, contemplating a task before attempting, etc.

Hello,

I read a lot of book on my kindle. I think it is exercise just remembering all my passwords, for websites, emails and so on. I have tried various brain games online. I heard singing along with songs is good. Hubby and I work on puzzles too. I try to stay active by walking too. Take care, enjoy your day!

I play games...I even have games I play in my mind when having trouble going to sleep. I also read, but not near as much as I used to. I play a lot on computer and phone...looking up things. But my mind sure is not what it used to be.

Well, as you know, I love doing puzzles of all sorts, but have been an eternal student too, ever seeking out new stuff to learn. This week... well, it's another bit of equipment that requires a steep learning curve. Read my post tomorrow! YAM xx

It is confusing to have different devices...I do too. I try to mix it up and do lots of different things during the day. And not to sit too long either. You are doing great my friend! More power to you...so to speak! Hugs!

If you are worried about your brain cells than I am in BIG trouble. I can't do a titch of what you do. I do try to keep my brain active. I do different things during the day. These days is trying to figure out what more to get rid of!

Wow, you must have a super brain by now! It is almost too much for me to operate my laptop and cell, so I can't imagine having all of these and getting them mixed up. This is the perfect brain workout for my techie sister! Plus, you use your expertise to help others!!

You know, I was wondering if you found switching between Apple and Android a challenge. I get a sick headache, just thinking about that.

I'm nowhere near you in reading, but still trying! Before getting out of bed, I do the daily Wordle and Spelling Bee. Later Quordle, but my new Achilles Heel is Anti-Wordle. Talk about confusing my gray matter!

Gosh, I sure have a Flabby Brain.
The learning curve to go from our Android to the new iPhone we got is hard but I think for the most part we have conquered it enough to get along.
Photography and eBay research, editing and posting keep both Dave and I busy and figuring out the shipping etc. is a lesson in patience too.
I play a lot of solitare on the computer..that makes me think.
You are amazing with all you do and your inquiring mind.

I switch from device to device as well, but they are all Apple, so it's pretty easy. My son keeps on getting me to try new photo editing software, so that should help some.

Well your post slapped me with a wake up call. My go-to strategy for dealing with misbehaving iPhone or computer is to beg Hubby to offer his brain cells. Maybe in a couple of days ... or weeks . . . or months I will work on developing better techie skills!

"Use it or lose it" This is the motto that always comes to mind when it comes to physical or mental ability.

My dear Aunty-Sandra there used to be a radio programme here in UK called 'I've never seen Star Wars'. People who went on it were challenged to try 3 things they had ever done before and rate the experience. You have never seen Star TREK have you? We can tell. Xxx Mr T

I try to keep my brain active by reading lots of articles on my iPhone. I love doing puzzles too. I am not a techie person I’m afraid.

Way to go on doing things to keep your brain active. Mark's mother has done crossword puzzle for years and years and she is amazing. I have bought a few brain teaser books, I have a new circle a word which I enjoy and I told Mark that we need to start playing a game of scrabble each day. Now is the time to do things to keep our brains active.
