Because I Could (POO)

Sunshine through my window fascinates me
and it also makes me feel happy.
Pondering Moment from My Mind...

Why is that I can see a shirt, skirt, sweater or even a collar on TV and remember that I had one of those in 1959, or 1970, but I can't remember where I currently left my coffee cup? I actually said to Bob as i pointed with my chin, while we were eating lunch out, see that dress she has on? Do you remember I bought a blouse out of that material in 1990?
Seriously? his look said with an eye roll.

Do you ever see fashions from the past and remember them?

I studied up on this years ago. Seems that the older our memory is, the longer it has been in our brain, the longer we can remember it. New memories are not in our brain that long. So the older a memory is, the more apt we are to remember it. This is why people with dementia remember things from way in their past and love to talk about them. It is the only things they can remember, and it comforts them.

I think we all look back at old pictures and say, “Did I really wear that?” Our brains all react in similar ways to aging, but not to the same degree in terms of short-term and long-term recall.

I can remember old fashions that I had but not the specific year that I had them.

I remember once having a swirly dress as a kid, bright red with apples all over it, and I would twirl and twirl and twirl. Wish I had that now. I wish I COULD twirl and twirl. Love your sunlight photo. You turned your stove into a work of art.

Love the shadow shot. My memory is awful, old and new memories.
Photos help me to remember. I do not pay attention to fashions, I know what I like. Nothing fancy! Take care, have a great day!

I love the sun shining in and making reflections or shadows! I always pick up a camera too! Enjoy your day!

Your kitchen always looks so sparkly clean. Great shadows!

To answer your question -- yep. I do that all the time. I've never been one to follow (fashion) trends, however, preferring to stick to the middle of the road ... inconspicuous, even.

I like Ginny's comment, and agree! The longer the memory is in your mind the more you remember it!

I remember quite a few items of clothing I've worn in the past, but unless connected to some very special occasion I'd not be able to pin down the exact year. My old photo albums may be of help sometimes, though.

I agree with Dawn Treader that photo albums are my memory jogger. I have to admit that some of the outfits I see around don't fit into any category they are just weird. Don't think I ever really kept up with the trends..couldn't afford it.

I remember old outfits all the time. A bit ago one of my grandgirls showed up in an outfit and I told her she would not believe it but I had something almost identical in 1973! lol
Love the sunshine and shadows. xo Diana

Yes I do believe I see things that I had in the past. I really worry about my mind these days. It is not easy growing old.
