Resurrection Fern Two

Above is one of 2 groups of Fishtail Palms, below is another group a few feet away.

We bought 2 5-foot-tall plants 38 years ago, the nursery guy said about 20 feet tall, HAA!
They grew to 40 feet, and each one turned to 5 or 6 trees. Beautiful Yes, Pest, yes.
I divided the photos because there was no way to back off far enough to get the entire tree in one photo.  I left the middle out, just top and bottom.

The day I found it
This second group of palms is the home of the Resurrection Fern above, seen in  prior post , and lives on the base of the fishtail palm.

Dead because no rain for 4 days.

Back to life the Day after Hurricane Idalia gave us 3 inches of rain.

Magic for sure! I think it was not really dead, just playing possum.

That is magic๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘ the fishtail palm kight be a pest but at least it is host to magic. Does the fern not draw moisture out of the palm (or host) then?

Hah! I had a similar situation with some palms I bought for my yard in OZ... I noted on my last visit there that the new owners had had the trees removed! I didn't have any lovely ferns like this though... YAM xx

Wow, that is magic. That fern didn't look like it had a chance of coming back to life.
That sales person was a little off in his estimation of how tall those trees would get...lol

Water will do it every time! Never trust what they tell you at the garden centre is my advice. There is no substitute for doing your own research before you buy. But it seems to me that this all worked out in the end. And the hurricane passed you by, so “it’s all good” as everyone seems to say these days.

I'm glad that the storm has calmed down although still thinking of the flooding in other areas of Florida. The little rain you had overnighthas done wonders for your trees and bushes.

Happy plants, loving that soil you've got!
The glorious green makes me forget for a minute (that) I hate Summer.

Why are the fishtail palms a pest? Amazing how quickly that fern came back after the storm.

Rain and Resurrection...perfection
Nature doesn't always follow the Rules.
Today we are suppose to have a spritz of rain but I don't think it will happen, maybe in the Foothills.
The temperature is a delicious 67F at 11AM. Only going to get to 75F today but by next Wednesday its back into the 90's.
I will enjoy it while I can.

Did you sprinkle Miracle Grow on them? When we moved here we planted a Magnolia Tree that was supposed to be 4 feet, it's about 30 feet tall now.

At least some good came out of Idalia. A gentle rain would have been a lot better, of course.
