TS Storm Idalia hurricane

Hurricane Idalia August 30, 2023

Our 3rd September Hurricane since 2017. She came fast and furious and was gone leaving a lot of flooding. These photos are from our news channel, it is in Sarasota, 10 miles from us. Sarasota/Bradenton is like one large city, you never know when you leave one and are in the other unless you happen to see a sign. Most of the damage was flooding, from the bottom of the state to the top, along what is Called the Suncoast, West coast of Florida. We are in the central part of the state.

We are thankful we had no-cost/no-damage from Idalia. I even got 5 hours of sleep. the other two storms I did not sleep for 24 hours straight.

Many others suffered from major flooding.

These are the other Two Hurricanes and the dates and links to post of photos of the damage.

 Hurricane Irma September 10/20/17

The major hurricane made landfall near Marco Island in southwest Florida around 3 pm EDT on September 10th, as a category-3 storm with 115 MPH. Naples, Florida reported a peak wind gust of 142 MPH. Irma moved quickly northward, just inland from the west coast of Florida on September 10 and 11.

IRMA damage HERE...... the worst part of this, 3 weeks after the storm bob had a stroke and had to have carotid surgery.

Hurricane Ian September 28, 2022, this one cost us $3000.00 out of pocket for damages and was the most expensive of them all. we lost half of the avocado tree and had to have a new garage door

Hurricane Ian, one of the most powerful storms ever to hit the U.S., made landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast on September 28. Ian's 150 mph winds and heavy rains knocked out power for 2.6 million residents and caused $12.6 billion in insured losses.

I would be scared to death to live on Florida with all the storms and bugs! You are one brave woman, whether you know it or not.

Glad that the storm passed you by. No doubt you are too!

Good to know you missed the worst this year. What between fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, snow storms... everywhere seems to have its challenges. About the only thing we share evenly is the risk of being hit by a space rock!

WOW that was a lot of water on the streets of Sarasota.
Very thankful you roof and new garage door did their job.
I hope and pray Idalia didn't give any of her relatives
any coordinates for the East Coast
Hugs cecilia

I remember watching all of these storms. So sorry about the flooding that happened in Sarasota and everywhere across the state. I do remember you having to get the new garage door after Ian.

I really feel for all those that were impacted by that storm and am so glad you and Bob are safe. So happy you have a good roof and garage door now and that you were able to sleep too.
Tis a crazy world we live in.

I, too, echo what Ginny and Jean say!
Since late yesterday afternoon -- when we weren't performing surgery on my weed whacker -- I/we've been scrolling through news photos. (Just wish I'd the presence of mind to drive my car down there and hope it flooded to death. More on that later.)

I well remember Irma and Bob's stroke. Wasn't that the time you heard him singing before you reached his hospital room?

Living through a hurricane would be too scary.

Those big storms can be quite scary. As a youngster I spent lots of time in FL with family (on the east coast) and we rode out many hurricanes. It's something I'll never forget.

Glad you did not suffer damage this time. It must be scary. We have tornadoes instead of hurricanes.
