The Re-Model of Walmart

Wal-Mart had its Grand Re-opening Saturday the 11th of November. Yes, I was 1 of 10 people who rushed past this new mural that was not there last Saturday. I was astonished it had been painted in one week.

Anna Maria Island is one of our local beaches and only 6 miles from Wal-Mart

It looks good, and reminds me of Sears Roebuck, the store I met my husband in, and we both gave 17 years of our lives too.
Not sure why they wanted to do this, because Sears did not survive.

To me this is a waste of space, less merchandise to buy, and more money spent to create it, and pay someone to dress it up.
I was shocked to my core when told that they did not have time to put in the new floors, because our winter tourist season is upon us, they will put the new floors in January.
COST FOR THE NEW FLOORS IS 2 MILLION DOLLARS.
Oy VEY!
just lower the prices on our food

Most of this looks like our Wal-Marts. One of them has a shiny new floor now. But none of them have a mural!!! But there is more room to walk around and the shelves are not quite as crowded.

P.S. NO Christmas leggins!! Last I looked was today, too.

P.P.S. They don't have near the variety of clothes like before Covid!!!

It does look like a higher end store with the new display. What a waste of money to spend all that on a new floor. Does anyone really care what the floor looks like as long as it's not filthy. Spending all that money to improve their store tells me that prices are going to go up yet again.

I suspect that they are feeling the need to somehow compete with online 'prettiness'...YAM xx

Hello,

I love that mural, beautiful scene!
It does look like a lot of wasted space.
Take care, have a great day!

The mural is a nice addition. Other than that I have only ever been in a Walmart store twice, so I am unable to add anything else.

Oh m'gosh, that doesn't look like any Wal-Mart I've ever been in! That mural is so pretty.
So, I'm wondering if it's anywhere near a Target -- they're attempting to rival? (Before they went 'woke', I loved shopping there on account of the wide aisles and less crowded displays.) Took, do ya suppose this, in part, could be a security measure to help those 'guys in the sky' who sit and observe?

It does look like they are trying to recreate a JC Penney or Sears type department store....our Walmart hasn't changed at all

Our Walmart hasn't changed at all either. Maybe they are trying to be a bit more upscale. The thought of the prices continuing to skyrocket doesn't make me happy at all...Prettiness at our expense.

I don't know what our Walmart really looks like, but I know they have a cool ceiling. I took some pictures of it once when I was waiting to get a vaccination shot at their pharmacy. I've decided to start shopping for my food there again. It's got to be less expensive than where I go now.

You are right to wonder why waste space. Not sure food prices can go down now that all is controlled by stocks and the investors want big profits.

The mural is lovely but I agree with you on the displays, they are a waste of space.

They're trying to look like Target!

They sure did like to spend a lot of your money!

Wow! We haven't been to Wal-Mart in years. That certainly looks different.

I am so afraid ours will do that...and if they all do, prices will go up..

It's been quite a long time since I have been in the Wal-Mart in Nashua (there is one). It's located a distance from shops we usually frequent and anything that could be purchased there we usually order online. I agree with your comment that rather than remodel, lower prices.

I like the mural. We don't have Walmart here and I have no opinion on the layout and displays as I don't know what to compare it to.

Walmart is not a store we have here, but as long as the goods don't go up in price a sprucing up will keep them on their toes. There is just too much competition between stores, as there is here. I like the mural in the entrance.

I had no internet over the weekend!
