Desoto Natl Memorial State Park 1

Home to Park 5.6 miles

Saturday AM after I walked Beau, I said lets go to Desoto Park, it is a national park that is only 5.6 miles from our home. The park is at the mouth of the Manatee River and the Gulf of Mexico.

10 mile scenic route we took

We took the 10 mile scenic root because the 5 mile is all traffic, lights, business and the longer is through Riverview Blvd that is waterfront on both sides and where the UBER rich live.

This ariel view, you can see water on either side, the docks are really long because of low tides.

All graphics are snips taken by me of Google Maps, I was driving. the next few days I will show you the photos I took at the park.

this one shows the wall-to-wall houses that are on the part that doesn't have waterfront.

The street is long and winding, and most of the houses are out of sight behind gates. There is no way to pull off and take photos. and no sidewalks to encourage walking. There were people walking dogs and riding bikes which means driving slowly.

The one above is a public boat ramp, and it is large enough to wander up and down on a small beach.

One of the homes had sold and was being remodeled. I came home and checked, and they paid 1.9 million for it, and looking at the permits, I saw the new roof cost 270,000.00 and they had spent another million on remodel. That is one of the cheap ones. One sold for Ten Million. It was early on Saturday, and we saw very little traffic.

to be continued

notice how the road disappeared around the curves

That neighborhood would certainly be out of our price league as well, Sandra. Just the maintenance costs alone, like for that new roof, are scary too expensive. Thank goodness, loking is free when you can have some views.

I'm so glad you were out and about. That's a gorgeous drive but wow, somebody sure has money. I guess they pay for their privacy.
Its gray and blah today...winding it's self up for rain tomorrow.
I'm off to Lynne's in a few hours. Another stay inside day..hoping it won't be hard on both of us.

Glad you acted on instinct and did something a little different!

SMH (again) that I never took advantage of visiting that park. That brown/tan wall is so lovely; like something I wish we had at the street.

Glad you took the ride. It looks so beautiful there. Yes, those are very expensive houses. Looking forward to hearing more. I wondered if you were able to park and walk Beau anywhere.

DeSoto is one of the few parks we haven't been to. Now I wish we'd visited there because it does look lovely. I'm so glad you've shared the photos and visit. I felt like I've been there.
Blessings. xx

I'm so glad I came back to blogging just in time to get to read this. There is so much to see and do in your town and the surrounding areas.

Hi Sandra:=)
This is a very attractive area, and I am pleased you went for a drive where it looks peaceful
with beautiful surroundings.

Nice that you have national park so close, and the area you drove through to get to it does look rather attractive, but I have to say I really would not want to live on that narrow spit of land at the end - one high tide and you would be flooded out or cut off surely?
