How Do You Put Your Socks ON?

How do you put your socks on? Our weird weather has had me wearing socks for slippers and I found at my NEW, old age the old socks do not go on easily as they once did. I asked Microsoft Creator AI to draw a stick figure of a woman putting on socks and a woman taking off socks. Can you tell which one is which? Forget the fact there is only one shoe on one woman, and the other has a half a shoe.

Don't worry, there is a reason for this weird post, other than the weird weather is making me more weird than usual!

Look carefully at the socks, my fingers will not go to my toes, I am sitting in the kitchen chair which is were I often sat to put them on. In the past, I lifted my left leg (see 3rd sock above) and put it on. Then lifted the right leg. Problem is, the right leg will no longer come up high enough. I can only put one sock on that way.
I did find I can sit in the pink-low to the floor chair in bedroom,  and bend over and pullthe socks on and the same if I use the leather ottoman in the living room.

In the distant past I could stand on one leg, prop the other foot on the bed (see my Hand drawn stick lady), put the sock on and repeat with other leg. To remove the socks, I have 2 ways, the worn out holey socks, I simply stand on the loose toe of one sock and pull my leg out, IF I am near something to hold on too and for the tight socks prop my knee on the bed, reach behind me and yank it down. YES I see the arm is drawn up in the air not reaching down behind me. If AI can do it, so can I.

Please tell me in comments how you put your socks on, and do you struggle doing it
Thank you for reading this garbage, and have a

I AM SERIOUS, I NEED YOUR HELP! ITS NOT ONLY SOCKS I NEED HELP GETTING INTO.

It is hard for me to put my socks on! And I wear slipper socks at home all the time. I cannot stand on one foot anymore. I have to sit down. Then I bend over and stretch. But my one knee will not bend very much. And it is just about all I can do to flip the toe part on then try to pull the rest up.

Yes that's the trick. sit on a low chair and bend to your foot with the sock folded in halfinside out and pull over toes and then grab the top and pull up. I put on shoes in the same chair with a shoe horn.
I take them off the same way as you either one knee on the bed or sit on the bed with one leg up with foot on other knee.

There is a device on the market in mobility shops that helps you put on socks.

Good luck

mark does it the way people stomp on grapes in a barrel in italy or spain... therefore he needs a chair otherwise it would end with shocks but without socks...

Sandra, there are tools/aids for this. Google sock puller, stocking puller, stocking aid etc. I don't need one now but did after an op in rhe past, I've still got it and use it if I've had temporary problems. And a long shoehorn is good for getting them off if that's a problem too.

I wear socks that don't go past my ankle. I just sit down, bend over and put them on. To take them off, they usually pull off when I'm getting undressed.
I was going to say the same thing as Monica about there being tools to help with putting socks on.

I sit on the bed and put my socks on, not due to any specific need to do so, it’s just the routine I follow each morning when I get dressed. As for taking them off, I lift one leg, bent at the knee, and remove the sock and follow the same procedure for the second foot. I have to confess that this is a practice to which I have never devoted a moment’s thought in the past!

AS has been mentioned, there are tools for the task to aid those of us who find the floor (and subsequently our feet) getting further and further distant from us!!! I can still don mine by sitting and lifting each foot to opposite knee, but it is starting to be quite a challenge... and by extension, cutting toenails.....oh don't get me started! YAM xx

I sit down to put my socks on. I wear knee socks this time of year. I gather them with my thumbs on each side then stick my foot in and slowly pull up.

Good morning to you too

I'm chuckling big time, b/c I just had an 'episode' with my daywear-at-home socks getting stuck inside my rubber waders.

If I don't want to break an ankle or hip, I have to sit on the edge of the bed and prop my foot up on the adjacent trunk. I think my calves are growing bigger -- or the new (boot-length) pair are made for skinny-boppers.
Come to think of it, when Tom had his hip replacement, they game him this 'tool' to assist with putting on socks. Sorry, I can't recall the name -- but I'll bet Google can.

I guess we of a certain age all have the same problems. My gimpy left knee makes it hard to put on socks too. I mostly sit on my chair, bend over and begin the sock dance. Then its on to my sneakers..all done bending over. I'm with Yamini...don't get me started on cutting my toenails...ugh

I haven't really thought about it before. I'll have to take notice tomorrow. The comments are funny.

I sit on the living room couch to put them on, stand up in my bedroom to take them off. But they're diabetic ankle socks, so they're easy. I don't have diabetes, but I don't like socks with a lot of elastic. These are lightweight and stay up fine but aren't tight around my legs.

Sandra, I will confess that I found the post title rather amusing and when I read further could see why you were having such a difficult time. I usually sit on a chest in the bedroom or in a chair in the computer room if i don't turn on the lights if Patrick is still asleep. I leave for the in-house gym between 6:15 and 6:30 am. Taking them off, I also sit down, bend down and remove them. It's a subject that I never really gave much thought to before.

I could never stand up and put socks on, I have to sit down.
I do wear a lot of ankle socks, some go up higher.

I usually sit in a chair to put my socks on. No issues there. I also take my socks off by using the other foot to pull it off unless I am sitting down I'll just take them off.
