Some of you might remember bright colored houses in prior post of the Village of the Arts. It has been 3 years since we did a drive by shooting of the houses and wow has it changed!
They have repainted most of the houses, and added others and also added apartments.
Clicking on photos will show you the details of the mural. It was hard to get these photos without getting out of the car, I took them through the driver side window.
These are Income restricted apartments, 200 rental apartments, a project of our City and Federal Govt.
The name is The Met Apartments and it is stunning inside and out. Tap the link and there are photos.
They are expensive to me, and very small and they are intended for people who can't afford to pay the rental fees. The restricted income means to rent, you have to fill out a form and qualify, if you make above the median pay rate for our county, you will not qualify.
The good news is, they are pet friendly, it has a dog park and the weight limit on dogs is 100 lbs.
I can't image a 100 lb dog in 586 square feet or 687 sq feet which are studio apartments.

The mural on the side of the building is fantastic. I love the different colored balconies too. I'm thinking my income is too low to even qualify to live in one of these apartments.

I just looked and it is fabulous....so much depth. It is wonderful.
Finally someone understands the need to house even economically challenged people, but the fear would be that if you put them all in one place it will eventually become a ghetto and wouldn't it be better to reserve a percentage of all new housing to allocate to the financially disadvantaged and make sure that the community is properly representative of ALL the people who live and work in it. (I know, I know, developers hate that because it denies a chunk of the profits they expect to make.)

I'm in love with that mural, but not so much the balconies. Probably on account I'm not fond of pastels. They needn't worry -- I let my fingers do the walking to their website and gasped at those prices. The smallest is double my monthly mortgage. Still, they remind me of my childhood home -- itty bitty, but everything we needed.

I love how they took the low income property and duded it up! It looks fantastic and the people will take better care of it I think.

Isn’t that the most beautiful mural? This one and more like it really brighten a building up. Always amazing to see how things change in such a short space of time. Apartment prices are out of sight up here.
The kitchen is really nice, for an apartment. I think my favorite photo is the cool painted balconies. There is an apartment building in Crozet that the front looks like this one! I have looked all thru my folders and cannot find it, so I think I already posted it. I'll look thru my blog and send it to you if I find it.

It is amazing seeing these building going up everywhere. I guess is is nice to have some income restricted apts. Not sure if we have those here. Apts here are more expensive than our mortgage. As much as I would like to move to a small place I'm not sure I want to live in an apt. Small 1.500 sq ft homes in Adam and Gabby's neighborhood are close to a million dollars. Isn't that crazy!!! We can't do that.
They are beautiful to look at from the outside....but I can't imagine living somewhere that small

I had an allergic reaction to Clindamycin antibiotic I rec'd after MOHs procedure. Have a horrible rash. Had to go to reg doc today. I'm on prednisone

Way too expensive but at least they are pet friendly. What's catchin' on around the Country right now is RV / Van living. There's RV parks springing up all over the place. As long as one has their own RV or livable van the lots are about $450 a month or $540 with internet, etc. Then tack on getting electricity, internet, sewage, and water and the renter is set. It's a cheaper, safer way to live for many. Here's one that's an example in a neighboring county: https://www.longcountyrv.com/ There's also one in ours (Pierce County). Folks get a mailing address and everything needed to feel like home. I hope these are successful as it gives people another option.

Love the big mural, and also the different colours on the balconies (although too bad if you happen to really dislike the colour on your own, I suppose...)
