I sit at the kitchen table to keep an eye on Bob while he is in the pool once a day. The Therapist and nurses tell him, don't get in the pool, its to dangerous. It has algae and can make you sick, you are a high on fall risk, so every day he gets in the pool.
So far, at least half the days, I need band-aids and towels to hold pressure on blood thinner bleeding wounds and he fell twice. No Injuries and no death by algae.
The blood pressure gadget lives on the table, I take it when he falls to make sure it is not caused by low BP.
After he is in the house and down on the sofa, I dashed off to pick up Beaus Vet RX and stopped at Dollar General for a few things. Stepping in the door, I found this and here you go my dear friend Yamini . When I saw it, he said to me Yam would love me, buy be please. Alas, Yam is in Scotland.
If not for the tariffs I would send you this COO, from me to you!
On the way home, I found a RED house for
Tiggers Mum, she did a recent post about a red house. I love this one. Freshly painted in the past few weeks. At first it was shocking but I stopped and stared and now I will go back to get a better photo
I might go back and get the whole house, its really lovely.
I am thankful today that I have all of my blogging friends all over the world, and that I know most of you well enough to know what you like and do not like.
I am thankful I have feline and canine and human friends and that we are all like one big family.

I know how hard it must be to continue to be so thankful when you are both suffering so much. But it is good to just concentrate on anything that is good or you will go nuts. I was just in TWO Dollar Generals today, and did buy a big painting!
Probably walking in the pool is good for him but not the algae. Love the red house too. Hope you and Beau are okay?

You have sent it to me, Sandra, via the ether. It's a lovely coo piece, ta!!! I guess asking Bob to stop dunking would be like asking a lifetime smoker to just stop... YAM xx
hugs to you... and we send power and good vibrations to you. the blood meds are a curse and a blessing in once... mark looks always weirs with all the blue spots and small wounds turn into the niagara falls.... we use this hemostatic sponges then, it works not bad
Thank you for the red house. Imagine it with more green around it.... I'm glad Bob is still getting in the pool. Hang the PTs and nurses - water is a great place for therapy because the body is supported and can still do movement without putting stresses and strains on back and joints. If he enjoys swimming it as close as he can get to something normal.
Swimming is such good therapy - water supports the body and makes movement so much easier.
Oh, well, I agree with everything Tigger's Mum said, above. You're keeping a close eye, so that's good (though extra stress for you.)
I agree with Tigger's Mum, making use of the pool is probably good for Bob in some ways even if at the same time there are risks involved... Also agree with Ginny, it's good to be able to mentally focus on the good things - at least for a while now and then in between the problems and worries...
That must be quite a chore to get Bob in and out of the pool. The algae does sound like a potential problem and there may be other harmful organisms hiding in it. Can you not get the pool shocked with chlorine? You certainly are a “glass half full” kind of person, Sandra. Life has not been especially kind to you since those devastating hurricanes last year, yet you are eternally cheerful. There’s a lesson here for all of us. Best wishes - David
Hello,
I would think the pool is good for Bob. It is good you keep an eye on him. I love the Coo print, very cute. The house is pretty.
Take care, have a great day!
Maybe Bob shouldn't go in the pool for the reasons the PT said but it's also at least giving him some much needed exercise. I imagine that getting him out can be tricky though. How long does he usually spend in the pool?
Your day is filled with taking care of Bob, but I sure hope you are taking care of yourself. Swimming is so good, but it is so important to get the algae out of the pool. Hopefully your pool is not a deep pool. being the worry wart that I can be, I would worry about him falling and not being able to get him out. Just wondering if Bob goes in the pool with his walker or has one near by.
I'm glad Bob is getting in the pool. I would think it would be good for him, but I understand falling is a concern. Glad you are watching.
I love the cow! The red house looks nice too.
What wonderful thankfuls today Sandra!!
Every day's a school day ... I never heard of a COO before. That red house is sure cute, but I wonder if it (paint) wouldn't attract more sunlight/heat. (Things that make me go hmmmmm....)
Do you make Bob's bandages waterproof, by chance? My first thought was, if algae's a presence he needs to wear a wet suit. Then again, mebbe not without a fight. I'm sure thankful for YOU!
I enjoyed your post and seeing how happy Bob is in the pool, regardless of the risks. There are risks in sitting in one's chair all th e time too. As long as he is able to get in and out, then go for it, but I don't know about the algae issue. I'm sure it must be expensive to get the pool treated, but I really don't know anything about pools. I know we swam in lakes and ponds and places where there were much worse things than algae (snakes, alligators, mud, pollution and things we don't want to mention) as I grew up here in Central Florida, but we survived. Sometimes "ignorance is bliss"...we just jumped in and swam and cooled off, and water skiied, (well some did, I mostly fell off) and enjoyed every minute. I somehow can't imagine that some algae in the pool could be worse than what's in our natural waters...but I'm no expert on these things. Does he shower off when he gets out of the pool? That might help. (even with a garden hose!) Anyway, I wouldn't want to take that joy away from him. Life is too short...swim while you can. That's my opinion, but again, I'm no expert on these things. I just see that it makes him happy and gives you a few minutes to breathe. (((hugs)))
You’re a wonderful lady. The benefits of Bob getting in the pool probably greatly outweigh the risks.
We have to do what keeps us going, because giving up is not an option. Take of your sweet self❣️ Kit
Happy Bob ... Happy You. Keep up the pool time as long as possible. I hope you can continue to see the good in things that push us down. Glad you got a bit of a respite and went to the store. Grab what you can. Love you Friend
Sue
MS I'm so happy Bob can use the pool...I know there are limitations but swimming is a normal routine for him and I hope will help cheer him up.
Hugs cecilia
I love the cow and the house. The pool is worrisome, so important to him and so hard for you. Does anyone in your local support group have any helpful ideas? bless you for what you are doing. Much love.
It's surprising that the therapists don't work with Bob in the pool as that is a great way to exercise his legs. I just hope he can stay upright when entering and exiting.
You wrote another really good post. As for Yam's gift and not being able to send. Is it possible to art her on on your tablet and then send that to her through email. Then she can print and hang it at home. Not sure if that will work. Might though.
I'm sure the professionals don't want him in the pool and algae in open wounds isn't a good idea. But, he can move around in the water and I'm sure that helps him feel more normal. Great big hugs from all of us.
Oh, good grief, that pool water shouldn't harm Bob. It's good for him to get up and move around. And good for you & him for ignoring that "advice". One can be overly cautious sometimes.
Good news, it's my understanding that there's no tariff's on items we send to others or they send to America. It's only on new products from manufacturers coming from those Countries. Now the shipping will probably be really costly, there is that. This is how our Country was originally set up by our Founding Fathers: to make money for taxes on tariff's. Then corrupt politicians saw their chance to tax land we own, items we own or buy, etc. We are indeed taxing ourselves and it wasn't suppose to be that way.
Class over. *giggle*
Love ya 🫶🏻💓
I pray that Bob stays okay going into the pool. Glad you are watching him. Would you be able to go in and get him if you went under? It is some good exercise if he is walking in there but I wouldn't want him to get sick from the algae. That looks like a great photo for Yamini. The red house looks nice too. You are a great friend to people. I am thankful for you in my life. Take care.
