What Color Are YOUR Matches? Repost 2016

Something RED from the past and this  post is from the past
I NEED matches, because I love candles and lighting things in the back yard.

and taking cool photos of lighting candles.

What color are your matches? Do you keep matches? I tossed my match box away and pulled out the above.

I shouted in to the living room... Bob... "the matches are GREEN... "

"What?" came the aggravated answer

"Green the matches are green"... (how could I know it was the best part of a tennis match and I caused him to have to rewind to see and hear...)

I have NO memory of buying these matches..

It says  these matches are :Sourced from responsible trees.

(don't worry about fire hazard, these were made from Responsible Trees)

Strike on Box (what, should I use my thumbnail like a cowboy)

Extra thick for LONGER BURNING.... WOO HOO and THANK YOU

Made in USA since 1881... the only ones I have seen were red and I was Made In 1944

My question to me, is how long have I had those red headed matches that I have been using the past few months? and How and When did I buy green matches and not know it?

I googled green matches and found that

A. if i had red headed matches they were OUT OF DATE and very old and should be discarded.

B. they come in Strike Any Where  on anything, no box needed (one man on you-tube said he carries the strike anywhere in a box in his backpack when camping)  Can you see what might happen?

C. They sell them on Amazon for 5 bucks.. and the can be shipped in USA but not overseas..(I can tell you I did not pay 5 bucks for a box of matches even though I have no memory of buying them.

Andy has matches up on the land, but I haven't lit a match in years! I hadn't thought about that until this post. ๐Ÿ˜Š❤️

we use matches for the candles... they belong to this season... although we better should have only battery operated lights ;O)

Wait, you can actually strike them on ANYTHING??? Surely not. Can you believe I don't think we have had any matches in years.

Ours (when we had any) had brown heads. Cooks matches with very long sticks.

Hello,
I can't remember when I last lit a match. I have one of the long lighters for candles. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

I keep a small box for lighting candles and incense... for a while I flirted with one of those long gas-filled things that you click, but it was useless and I couldn't be bothered getting refill. The heads on mine are dark brown. YAM xx

I don't have any matches in the house. I have lighters instead. I may need to buy matches though because I've found that the lighters are getting harder for me to light. As for the red head matches being out of date, I figure if they still light, they're still good.

My (UK) matches have brown heads. I agree with Ann - if you red matches still strike and burn, then use them. After all, all matches are intrinsically dangerous!

Hi Sandra :)
I havent used matches in years. I probably should have a box for emergencies when for example my lighter stops working, but so far it hasn't. Who knew that the red topped matches were old and the green are new, I didn't, but as long as both work, that's all that matters.

We have matches in the RV and in our "emergency kit". I think the heads are red....hmmmmmm LOL

We use matches to light candles and they are red. I just bought them about a month ago. I have to roll my eyes on the green matches made by " responsible " trees. That's a new one. ๐Ÿ˜

I do buy matches. Rarely are they used, but it's nice to know that I have them just in case this crazy world has issues. Mine are red. Hopefully everyone has a box of matches in their home. I also have those striker matches that are so popular, but there is just something about having a BOX of matches..

We don't have matches anymore, just use a lighter.

I checked my matches and so far they are all green but I do believe I've recently used some red ones! 'Responsible' trees?? Really???
I love the things you come up with!

We are old and we have matches.

Gosh, I can't tell you the last time I saw a matchbook around here! Tom only uses disposable lighters -- probably on account he knows I'm a fire bug like you.
That old-time aroma is positively intoxicating -- or would be, if I could find some. Who on earth coined the term "responsible trees." (I'd better not say what I'm really thinking here on your family-friendly blog.)
All I want for Christmas ............

We do have matches for "just in case". I usually used my lighter for candles. Don't think I have ever seen green heads on matches. Maybe its because I haven't bought any in years.
Love your Santa and his eyes. He's looking into our souls.
Great post today.

I don't think we have any matches in our house but we do have one of those long necked lighters for starting gas stoves or grills.

If I remember you are a fire girl indeed! lol
I don't think we have any matches here - but we do have a long neck lighter.

Wait, "Green Matches" from "Responsible Trees"??? What are they responsible for? Do they reproduce themselves so that when they are cut down and chopped up for matches they will continue to grow and thrive so they can be cut down and made into matches again? I guess I've seen everything now. And wait, throw away the old matches? Isn't that irresponsible??? I mean, if they still work, why would I want to throw them away? Because they aren't green??? This is crazy. I know I have a box of matches somewhere, and now I am curious as to their color. Hubby has little boxes of tiny matches that he uses in his bathroom, well, for , well, I won't say what but you can imagine. It's better than air freshener. LOL. I don't think they are green either. Crazy. The things I learn here. Thank you for making my day.

We have a matchbook collection so I'll have to do the color inspection LOL! Big hugs from all of us.

I'm not sure I could set my hands on a match if I needed one right now...(interlude, checking)...nope, not that I could find. Maybe I need to remedy that.

I've only used the plastic lighter sticks (the long ones), and I only use those to light the burners on my stove. My stove is 25 years old and the auto light when I turn the knob only works once in a while, LOL! Besides, I hated the sulfur smell of matches.

Hahha, with the trees and the fire. I had no idea green or red. I'll have to check mine. We have the little box and also the super duper long matches.

I know I've got matches around here somewhere!!! I think I have tidied them up into oblivion. I might need to get another box.
