Jake N The Sun

"Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong"..W.R. Purche

I believe this quote by Anatole France. "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."

Jake is 13 this month, or maybe last month, his age is a guess.

Jake Story is at the top of the blog under his very own Tab. .

Jake loves sun and hates cameras.  He is perched on a pillow, unlike the 13 years past that he laid on a blanket.
This year we noticed he was not laying on his blanket in the sun. I finally realized he could not lay on the tile with just a blanket, much to hard for old bones and hips. Us old folks need our comfort..

Yes dogs can show disgust with the photographer with just one look

Chat-n #1 - Lo-quay-ious

Several years ago, at our YMCA pool, the lifeguard said to my hubby, “isn’t the lady that talks a lot your wife?”
Another time, in the parking lot after AM church services I stood chatting with friends.
My husband and son stood with arms crossed over the chest, hands under armpits.
You know, that “classic stance” men assume when waiting on the little lady.
I heard my 30 year old son say with a huge sigh “My Mom has a black-belt in conversation”.

Anywhere, any time, I chat with people!  In line at the cash register, sitting  in a doctors waiting room, walking across a parking lot. Even at the sink in the public restroom.
I talk to strangers. If they talk back I talk MORE!

Standing in line in Wal-Mart,  I said to the tiny lady in front of me “why in the world do THEY place price stickers on the glass where it leaves sticky glue that can’t be removed. Why don’t they put them on the back where it doesn’t matter?”
In a beautiful drawl, she said “Ah can tell ya how, honey. Drop oil on tha sticka, don’t matta what kind. Soak it, rub it and that sticka will come right off that glass clean as a whistle.”

I came home and removed the stickers by using a few drops of olive oil. Hubby asked how I knew to do that and I said “I learned it from a lady from Kentucky, she is here on vacation with her son and his wife and 2 children and they are staying at the beach, she was so cute, about 90 years old and she said use WD-40, Murphy’s soap oil….  And mid-sentence I realized he was no longer in the kitchen.
I once went into a fit of depression in the waiting room while hubby had 4 hours of surgery.
10 people waiting. Not ONE that would stop punching electronic devices and talk to me.  Believe me, I tried. My comments were met with silence.

The door opened and a man I worked with for years and had not seen since I retired 11 years ago sat down next to me and said “Good morning, how have you been?
I bet his ears are still ringing….

If you’re still with me, this post came about because Myra of Respice Respite posted this article,
Big Word by Sean Dietrich on his blog Sean of the South. He said his dad gave him the word loquacious.
I thought that is MY word!… it means tending to talk a great deal. I am going to spell my version of loquacious like this.  Lo-quay-ious.. isn't that precious? Also the younger generation will know how to pronounce/spell it.
You can call me Mad-Loquay for short. Or maybe MadChatter

Portable Hard Drives

Which of the above photos is my external hard drive????

I have Four External Hard drives.  2 of the little black one, 1 of the big silver one PLUS BOB my hubby. Keep this in mind.... I can't see a thing without my glasses, and need help when wearing glasses, he has 20/20 with no glasses. My memory is a thing of the past, his is excellent. I can hear a cricket chirp in the back yard, he can't hear thunder right over our heads.

Driving to the YMCA Tuesday morning I tried to tell Bob about something I saw yesterday while out and about. I could not remember where I saw it.

I said "Where did I go yesterday?"

He promptly answered, to Publix for prescriptions and the river to take photos.

I said OMW, You are my portable memory hard drive"

He said "I'm 81 and soon will not be able to get around, I will be your hard drive and you can be my walker/driver.

I replied "I can drive us to the store, you can point out where I should turn and things that I might run over. I can push you around the store, you can tell me what to put in the basket.

He said You can be my ears and I will be your eyes...

We went on for 10 minutes in that vein, until we got out of the car.

There is much more to tell you but I can't remember it.... BE Right Back, I have to go ask my Human Hard Drive what I left out of this post..... heh heh heh
