This is the view from my back door of what should be all green at this time of the year. For the past few weeks it has been all brown and ugly due to the cold winter (it is still 52 and 20 degrees below normal) . I noticed new leaves on the banana trees and decided to look around the yard for new green.
this is new green elephant ear plants, only about 12 inches tall. I sat the camera on the ground and when i turned around was staring at yesterdays Mystery Photo.
and here is your answer.
it is the flower turning into a seed pod. Isn't it odd how taking a small portion of an object completely changes our perspecitve on what it is. Your guesses made me smile. 2 dried leaves from Snapper and Barbara (close, very close) 1 rain puddling on?Addicted to the Click (very close and true) and 3 something over the head to keep rain off Ginny, Betsy, and DawnTreader.
I fooled everyone because it was NOT from my trip to the plantation. Gotcha!
This is our powder puff bush, with the rain from last week, it is covered in bright pink powder puffs. the redish leaves in the middle of this photo (click on photo to see the leaves) is all new growth. On this bush new growth comes in red, then turns dark green overnight.
Thanks for all the guesses! Aint Bloggin Fun?

You have the most amazing vegetation in your garden - so different from anything I am used to. Thank you for sharing all these pictures with us. Do you have a regular slot for your mystery picture competition? I don't want to miss the next one! :o)
Yes, brown, brown all around. It's wonderful to see new growth popping up.
Very clever mystery photo. I think I was seeing what I was longing to see. We've got a bit to go here yet before we see any "new greens". But at least now it's raining - properly raining - some of the old grass is beginning to show here and there...
Yes--Bloggin' is FUN!!!! I would never have guessed your mystery picture---but then again, I seldom guess right!!!! ha ha
Glad you are getting some GREEN... Hopefully, we had our last cold spell yesterday (a little snow here) --and we can now enjoy some Spring. I HOPE!!! But--since the winter has been so harsh, we still only have Crocuses in bloom --and that is ALL so far.
Hugs,
Betsy
What a neat bush!! Things are getting greener around here too.
Loved the post about the cistern-how neat is that! Although I'm glad I've got my water system instead of that one : )
You are good with your mystery pics!! Have a great day!
I love all these pictures! And you know what I think about when I see those elephant ears! I never would have guessed the mystery picture was part of a plant!
I am hoping things green up here too. Spring is coming I am alost sure of it. LOL
Your posts are always fun. I wouldn't have guessed your mystery picture in a millin years, I was thinking a bonnet of some kind!
Sunny :)
Yes, blogging is fun. It was nice to see all the new green popping up in your yard. We are now starting to see green out in our yard.
I don't see a lot of Elephant Ears or banana plants here but they are very pretty. That was a great mystery photo, I would have guessed the bloom of the banana plant.
The mansions below are beautiful, I loved to see them restored and cared for.
