tuesday of this week, I met friends at Sarasota Jungle Gardens. My first love at the Gardens are the parrots. There are many colorful Macaws, but this one was new to me and he was shy and beautiful.
The Red-fronted Macaw is native to a small mountainous area of south-central Bolivia situated about 200 km west of Santa Cruz, in the department of the same name, where the climate is medium altitude semi-desert.
IF YOU LIKE PARROTS check out my archives from last August

Beautiful Macaw, I can almost feel his soft feathers.
Happy Weekend.

I'm a bit ambivalent about parrots. Like baboons, they seem far too knowing if you ask me. I always imagine they're going to bite me, although I have never once even come close to it. That bird is a looker though. And thanks for the Blogger tip. Been thinking of moving over to a new look with BiD.
Beautiful bird - reminds me of "the coat of many colors!"
These are beautiful pictures of a beautiful bird.
Have you ever had a parrot pet? We had a love bird for two years. We gave it away when Buddy's skin became bad. The bird was amusing. He had run of the upper level of our home and loved the floor length mirrors.
A breathtaking header!!!! I actually think I like him better than the Macaw. Maybe it's the way you did the mottled green behinh him, it goes perfectly with his feathers, an unusual color. Also, his eye is WHITE!!! Macaw has a yellow eye and looks slightly jaundiced. I did not know you last August, so I'm glad you put the parrot links on! I loved going to all the posts and looking. Loved the one that had a completly red head, and the little blue one. How far do you live from Jungle Gardens? I will await all the other things they have, as well. If I lived there, I would LIVE in that place!! I loved your happy face on the older post!!
Beautiful photos, Sandra, of the macaws... Their colors are marvelous..
I think I told you that we visited those Jungle Gardens back in the early 70's. Our two youngest boys were in strollers... I have a picture somewhere of my youngest with a macaw sitting on the stroller behind him... Don't think that Jeff was too happy about that bird being there. ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Great captures Sandra. The colors of the feathers are quite amazing.
I went back through the last few posts and loved the things you said about Que Sera Sera and your "dragon Slayer"
I've been away for a few days and it takes time to catch up on all the posts.
Beautiful..love the green behind him on your header too-fabulous colors! These guys must be so bright! I'll check your links out next.
He is a beautiful bird, your photos captured him perfectly. It's good to know they can be bred in captivity but it is a shame their numbers in the wild are so low.
