A House I Once Knew-Part 2

A House I Once Knew

I can see a place by the window
Where firelight once played inside.

I can picture the porch as it used to be
And grounds so clean and wide.

Doors with well-oiled hinges
                                                                Let in our willing feet.

With everything in place as it should
And everything trim and neat

I see it in mellowed reflection
Until years have changed it to be

A house with a memory; it’s more than a house
It once was home to me.

I love, love, love this little bungalow and the poem is perfect.
I have been enjoying your recent posts but have been having some computer problems so I fell behind with comments.
I really enjoyed your pier walkabout especially the old fisherman picture :)

Love you house series. I love looking at houses, and wonder about the people who have lived there, what memories have been created. So interesting.

Beautiful Sandra..... Love the pictures of the houses you are showing ---while sharing that poem. We all have memories (some good and some not so good) of the house where we grew up... It was HOME to us...

After Daddy died, Mama stayed in the big house for a few years and then sold it so that she could move to a smaller place. I creid and cried when she sold 'my' house.

Hugs,
Betsy

What a beautiful house. I love that colour of yellow on the siding. I could just see myself getting right comfy on that porch. :o)

O.K. here come the questions! Pretty as the poem is, you just know when there's no commentary that I'm comin' after you! The sign says OPEN, so did you go in? Rats, I bet not!! The colors are just so pretty and mellow, and I adore that big gate! What was it open FOR? Is it a bed and bath? It is for sure just so pretty!! But don't you wonder what the inside would look like if the outside is this pretty?? Maybe you can return and go in! If I lived near you, I think we'd be very bad for each other. We would egg each other on and get into so much trouble!

These old houses (previous post and this) seem to be in better shape than the one in the poem. :)

I love the pastel colors of the houses and the porches. It feels friendly and inviting!
About those ladybugs... here, the larger nurseries have them in containers... with some food... 1500 in each for about $10. You water the bed in the evening and put them out then... they tend to stay put when it is dark. I love to watch the little aphids run when they see them coming.

I want to sit on that porch and sip some sweet tea!

The dish in my post today belonged to my grandmother. I have a dozen of them. Some from my grandmother and some from an elderly friend. I love them!

Best,
bonnie

My husband took a bike ride down to the beach to cool off after working! So I'm here reading in between bites of dinner! I love your series..the red and white below is so cute..reminds me of one in town. The flowers are really nice hanging below the windows. The greyish or maybe faint green (hard to tell the true color here) is neat too. Now the peach is awesome! Love the steps, the white trim and palms with that gate..not to mention the brick work drive way! Again, the poem is fits so perfect!! Thanks for never giving up on me!! Your a gem!!

I love this style of house with the big porch. One of my aunts had a house that was very similar with a porch swing, as a small child it was my favorite place to play.
