Open For Prayer........

On our Saturday walkabout,we found on the same street with all those older homes, the Roser Memorial Chapel -1913. A step in sign by the front door stated simply "Open For Prayer".

I can remember a time when all churches were open for prayer any time. In our modern times, most churches are locked and only open at set times. In 1913 no one would have even considered stealing from a church or defacing the property.

1st Timothy 2:10 says
"Pray for kings, and all who are in authority"
Pray for our country and the government that is in control.

Something happens when we pray:
Powers of evil lose their sway.
We gain strength, and fear gives way,
Therefore, Let Us Pray! anon.

Prayer should be our first response rather than our last resort.

What a neat church. With bell and everything. Love it! I like nothing better Sunday morning than to hear church bells off in the distance somewhere. Nobody does it here. :(

I picture a wedding there - how lovely. Gorgeous church - and yes - prayer should be our first response. I'm working on that!

This is a beautiful chapel. I, too, remember when churches were open. I'm not sure we've made 'progress' since then. I like your last statement: "Prayer should be our first response rather than our last resort."
Have a great Sunday.

I agree that prayer should be our first response. It sure doesn't seem to be that way with me sometimes. Seems I have to fuss and fume before releasing the situation.
Lovely church pictures.

Oh what a cute little chapel... I have a 'thing' for little churches like that. We visit them when we are traveling. Many of them have beautiful organs in them...

It makes me sad to think about our changing times... We never locked anything --houses, cars, etc. when I was growing up. There just wasn't that much crime. People respected each other --and respected others' property... Isn't it sad to think that even churches have to be locked now?

Have a great Sunday.
Hugs,
Betsy

I wonder if it's open ALL the time? You are right about churches being locked, and they din't used to be! But are Catholic churches still always open? I thought they had to be because you can confess anytime? I remember seeing movies of the priest getting up in the middle of the night and putting on his robes to go to the sanctuary for a penitant. I adore that chapel window, it is so unusual with the beautiful etching, and I love the way you got the tree reflection it in, it's beautiful!! A perfect post for Sunday. The Church Of Madsnapping!

AMEN to all of these posts! I agree with all of them.

In this age of IM where so many means of communication are available to us, do we really communicate? And isn't it wonderful that we need no devices to commune with God? He is always
OPEN FOR PRAYER.

Beautiful photos Sandra, I love the reflection in the first shot. It is a sad that churches have to lock there door to prevent vandalism, respect for any property is a thing of the past.
