Walkabout-Anna Maria Island/City Pier

On our Wednesday Walkabout, we went to the other end of Anna Maria Island and parked at the City Pier. This is what greeted us as we parked.
We stood and stared and snapped and clicked as it got brighter and brighter

this city pier was builit in 1911-1912 and was damaged by major storms in 1918, 1935, 1974 and 1988. Each time it has been restored to its original form.

this photo is to show you how long it is and why we had to go walkabout (note: walkabout to us, means walk from bench to bench upon which we rest). It is 678 feet long with another 58 feet of wharf at the end which includes a resturant, bait shop and of course a restroom.( out and back is a quarter mile).

We were not alone on our walk, see below.

On the fishing wharf we found fisherman and boaters and watchers of same.

this post may be just a tad boring, but I wanted to set up the next few post which of course will include What We Found, while on Walkabout Anna Maria island.
Beaches on the gulf side and houses and Stuff on the Bayside.

Fantastic images of the sky and those birds that grace the clouds!! Really enjoyed your model (lol)..wow, the last is just terrific Sandra- love it!! I would be happy to take the walk along this pier! I did walk pizza off down by the beach late this afternoon with my husband and dog. Well, hope you had a wonderful 4th!

Well, Duh!! I never thought for a minute that this post was boring!! But so funny how alike we are. I was up till after 2:00 last night struggling with mine, and think it's the worst I've ever written. Your sky picture is too cool, because the clouds at the hirizon, and then the other kind up higher, almost like a whole landscape made of different clouds. And this picture is kind of similar to the header, only with a bird flying. And the white egret!!! Too cool! These are beautiful pictures and also I like that they really show how and where your path was. So now I can picture you walking along there, and not just look at the pictures and wonder what kind of path you were on. But those benches would be way too far apart for me!!!

Your first picture of the pier is lovely. It shows the true magnificence of the scene, leading the eye out down the pier to the stunning skyscape at the end. Well done. Definitely not boring.

The last photo reminds me of my father. He would have been 92 this year, and, if he were still alive, this is what he'd be doing.

Not boring AT ALL! These are great shots and make me feel very nostalgic, for some unknown reasons!

Love the man on the fisherman on the pier. This scene is played out thousands of times and truly is a taste of life by the sea.

Boring? Never! I love the ocean and anything that gets me closer to the water especially piers and jetties. And I love a sunrise or sunset over the ocean. More please.

How could you think this is boring? I love sunrises, water, and anything beach. So much can be read into the photo of the fisherman - so good.

You had a gorgeous morning for walking on the pier. I want you to know that I did not find this post boring at all. I enjoy walking (and resting) on piers as well.
