Baby Pineapple Part 2

"I suppose you and Bob sent your guy to pineapple heaven and Bob gave the top knot a decent burial"

so says my friend Janice in an email yesterday as to what we did with the top knot of the pineapple. she is RIGHT

Bob pulled the Parent Plant out of the bucket (don't fret, the plants only bear fruit once) and stuck the Baby's top Knot in the same hole next to the plant that is 9 months old

Hello Next Summer's Pineapple- or NOT.

"Help, I was Clicking and could not stop"

I do realize this might be just a "tad" overkill, but there ARE a few differences in each photo.

do you think they make Ouija Boards for Pineapples?

I think the next to last photo (second from the bottom) is the best, i.e. the most threatening. It clearly says: Pinapple, your time is up!

Pineapple, the fruit I love so much; its lovely and decorative shape, its taste and smell.
I too couldn't stop clicking. I like your photos from this post as well as from the previous one.

Awwww, poor baby! I went through looking twice, and I think the differences are in the brightness of the pictures. That is one yellow pineaplle. I think it is the brand something Gold. I see in the store, the different kinds of pineapples have names, and that is one, but I can't remember WHAT Gold! Maybe pPuerto Rican

Does this mean you may, or may not, be taking orders for delivery of fresh pineapples for next summer?

I'm glad you couldn't stop snapping! I am so close to purchasing my new camera. I plan to go to a local camera shop next week (armed with what I'm pretty sure I want and online prices) and if they are not a great deal higher in their pricing, will purchase it there for the support they will give me. Right now I'm mulling over a 50 mm lens. Advice is always solicited.

Best,
Bonnie

We all knew the fate of the pineapple top. And your comments answer my question as to how long it takes to root & bear fruit. Good one!

I suppose these have to be in zone 11 to actually bear fruit. I want to know... how did it taste? I love fresh pineapple but it does a number on my tongue so I have to really moderate... only one small piece. Same with strawberries and eggplant.. for some unknown reason.

I think you asked about the mint. I had three mint plants... just tiny little things. But they took over a four foot area and almost snuffed out the thyme and rosemary and the hollyhocks. They send out underground runners everywhere, so I think they will do best in a large container on the deck. I pulled leaves all summer, even large pieces and made glorious mint tea. I even used some in one of the roast chickens and it gave it a delightful flavor.

All I can say is 'Keep Clicking!'. I didn't realize that pineapples bear fruit only once.

I am shocked that each Pineapple plant/bush ONLY bears pineapple ONCE.. How unusual???? SO--you replant the top of the pineapple in the place where the other one was planted??? Interesting.... AND--now you have TWO plants going?? I can't wait to see what happens next summer.

Thanks for sharing... I knew NOTHING about pineapples other than the fact that I love to eat them...
Hugs,
Betsy

It wasn't hard to guess what would happen with the top of that little pineapple.

The poor baby looks a bit intimidated by the large knife. Can a pineapple look scared?

Love the Betty White quip.

You now will have two plants but next year there'll only be one fruit???

Oh, goodie - more baby pineapples! Too bad they don't multiply like rabbits, isn't it? LOL!

I like the series of photos... you know I do this too... with a bunch of photos which contain subtle differences. I like seeing other people's series because I can see the changes they make between shots. Like moving the knife. :o)

I had no idea you could do this. Now, how did it taste?
