Hidden Potential (look again)

Words are seeds! Fruit grows from those words, good or bad, sometimes life or death can grow from our spoken words.

ABOVE PHOTO OUT OF CAMERA, BELOW, HIDDEN POTENTIAL, developed by ME with my trust PhotoShop 7 The rest of the photos below, are 1 out of camera, 2nd photoshop

Last week, while in Wal-Mart, I noticed the above display and boxes of pumpkins of all sizes and colors. (yes, I did have my slimline Coolpix in my pants pocket, doesn't everyone?) Yes, I did take it out and Madly Snap a few shots. (you say, do they let you do that? I did it, but later heard from a blogger I could have been in trouble, so do not do this, or IF you do, don't tell them where you got the idea)

Are you wondering where I am going with this? I almost deleted all the photos because taken under flourscent lights, they did not come out very well and also did not Speak to me. they were just ugly pumpkins all jumbled together. I needed a fall header and decided to see if I could find any hidden potential and then found i could not stop transforming what at first seemed so blah into something I loved.

the idea for this post came while watching the local news last night, Talking Head was inteviewing the principal of a local school, and Hubby says
"She's a PRINCIPAL?"
I said "why do you say it that way?" Hubby said "well LOOK at her!"
Are you picking up what I am putting down???

Just as I had judged these photos as not good enough because of the way they LOOKED, Hubby did the same thing in thinking the woman on the TV did not have potential for a principal because of how she LOOKED.

As for me, what was the first thing I thought? these are not pretty enough to post or use, just get rid of them. My second thought was Make Them Better, Make them Prettier, Change them so they are more pleasing to ME. OUCH.... what if these were PEOPLE? would I think the same thing? I did the same thing hubby did, judged the book by its cover without thinking about how good these pumpkins were inside.   (to be continued tomorrow)

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."
Luke 6:36-38

You made a very good point here and what a creative way of presenting it too.
I have a ton of pictures on my computer that should be deleted but I always save them just in case I can turn them into something that is pleasing to me :)

Wow Sandra. You realy drove that point home, but you are right on target. We should judge people by their character, and not by their appearance alone.
Great photos, fantastic blog.

I am catching up on yesterdays blog this morning too. The sun rises are gorgeous. Who else but God could start our day with such a glorious view? Are you saying that your header was changed with Photoshop? I thought it was different than when you first posted it. So I was right? For the last couple of days I have meaning to ask you if you doctored it?

Gosh, Sandra, as you continued to write, your thoughts just got better and better! This is an excellent post, and I see how you brightened up and defined those gourds. Wow! The purple MADSNAPPER in the one really makes it! You define and brighten up my day just like you do these gourds! Can't wait till tomorrow if you are continuing this!

First of all your header turned out magnificent!!! and...I'm not tellin'!!!

Amen sister, I loved the way you chose to use your words today. They brought reminders and enlightenment to my soul. We so need to be careful of how we use our words. We can support liftin' other up or we can cut someone clear through the heart with hurtful words.

Loved your edits...it's amazin' to me how we can spruce up our pics...I'm still quite the novice when it comes to digital.

God bless ya and have an extraordinary day!! :o)

These are simply astounding Sandra. I have never seen pumpkins like these before as we have very vew varities here. I noticed them first when you put up your banner.

When in a shop or private property, I always ask permission to take pictures. Needless to say people always say 'yes' even if they do look at me as if I am crazy. LOL!!

Hi Sandra, You are really doing great with your PhotoShop7 program. The first thing I saw was the header ---and I LOVE it. Amazing the difference....

YES---we do judge people, don't we? Ministers also fall into a 'certain look' category.... SO--I'm sure that Principals do also... We had a Youth Director in our church who was a nice young man who related to teens and did a great job. However, he would come to worship in shorts and flip flops...... He certainly didn't "look" the part ---or set the example.

Great post.... We had a nice time today visiting with Mildred and John.
Hugs,
Betsy

I like the point you've made in this post and you've illustrated your point wonderfully with your photos.

When I worked you an employment agency a plaque hanging in the reception area reminded all that "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." The reason for this is that people are so quick to judge someone by their looks. You are making a great point.
