Avocado-In-Waiting

OK, can anyone guess who grew this Avocado tree and from What? Come on, think hard!
Look close and you might find our hound dog Baby Girl. the little red tree is a Dwarf Poincina grown from a seed by Bob, the GREAT BIG tree he grew from a seed, it is 11 years old. I know that because in Sept 2001 Gabriella the Tropical Strom took out our oak tree and this was  planted in the spring, it was 5 feet tall when he took it out of the bucket garden.

the birds and the squirrels LOVE it. the pesty squirrels eat the fruit, a bite out of EACH ONE
These last 3 shots are the flowers blooming now, they are
Avocado-In-Waiting, soon to be really Big avocado

Tomorrow..... The Rest of the story.

Jolly green thumb, Bob.
He sure has a talent for growing things.

I started one from a seed but didn't prune it back soon enough and it became too gangly and weak.

Yikes, what will yu post next?? You and Bob are a Whole Foods store. WE eat avacados, Phil just had one last night. A great way to eat them: toast a piece of bread. Mash some avacado over the top of it. Sprinkle with olive oil and enjoy. Are these the big green ones or the wrinkled black ones? We eat the black ones. I can't wait to see the rest of the story, and the avacados coming out of the flowers. Do Jake and Baby like them?

Your husband must have gardening flowing in his blood.I guess it helps to live in a warm climate where things grow faster.

This is what ours looks like too.. It's exciting..not sure what I'd do about squirrels? My poincina was from seed too. We do have a few things in common huh?!

Hi Sandra, Your home reminds me of my brother Ray's home --when he lived in St. Augustine. His yard was almost totally covered by trees/shrubs, etc... Do you have total privacy????? That is SUPER...

You obviously don't have much grass, do you? Do you have some kind of ground cover--or is that just sand????

Hugs,
Betsy

I'm even more impressed with the Green Thumb of your Hubby? But do the squirrels leave you any avacados at all?

Sandra, you never need to go to the store cause just give hubby some seeds and he will plant all the fruits and veggies you need - great!

I had to see the first part of the avocado story.

I'm having internet connection problems, apparently our company is doing service each evening. It's been off more than on all week. I didn't do a post, thought I would visit a bit instead.

Yum - avocados with bleu cheese! Makes me hungry. So amazing that that huge tree comes from a seed. We've tried to grow them here - but they just grow to be spindly little plants that die rather quickly. Guess we need to move to Florida! ;o)
