Walk With Me

Walk with me any time during the week, in our small back yard and you will find treasures. NOT tomatoes... ha ha...
Above is a common sight right now. This hybrid Hibiscus loves the cool nights and hot days. there are more than 200 species of hibiscus, they come in red, pink, orange, yellow and white.

We have red, pink, orange....a total of 10 bushes. different shades of their colors at different times of the year. today is the spring color.

All of these are on the same bush, I never know what I will find from day to day. the sun changes them, some are small and flat, some are big and round like the first. that is a climbing asparagus fern crawling up, up up. Another Job for Bobby Tomato Seed, hacking back the fern.

Lovely photos Sandra. I like the "bokeh" in the last ones... (I think I'm at least beginning to get the idea what that IS now. Actually accomplishing it is another matter!)

Sandra, enjoyed this lovely walk through the yard, more so after catching up on previous posts about the storm. Too bad about the tomato plans, but glad you came through OK. We have never grown hibiscus in our flower gardens.

So gorgeous! We live wayyyy too far north to have these, so I find them very tropical and wonderful. It is snowing here right now. Sigh.

Oh, I love those hibiscus; their colors are always so pretty. I bet your backyard is a great place to while away those summer hours.

We have a hibiscus plant that is pretty large, but in the last few years, it hasn't done very well. I'm wondering if not covering it on high frost mornings do it in? Or maybe something is eating it...not sure. Yours are absolutely beautiful!

Oh, don't cut down the fern... I love the lacy look and background it gives the hot flowers.

What an interesting and beautiful walk we had this morning together. I assume it was early you early bird. No matter - the flowers were breathe taking.

LOVE the header, LOVE the pictures!!! I didn't know ANYTHING about hibiscus till last year when you taught me, remember? Then I started to see them around here! I think there is only red here, have not seen another color. But that is a goal for me this summer, I want to see the other colors, especially that e beautiful pink!!!

Love your Hibiscus, we lost all of ours this winter, coastal Georgia usually has a pretty mild winter but not this year.

I love hibiscus. We had a beautiful one in the front yard on 60th St. Ann's mother, Aunt Evelyn gave it to us from her yard. It was not a hybrid but one of those common lavendar ones. Still beautiful. I should have tried to root a piece to plant here when we built this house. I love the pics with the hibiscus and the fern together. I had that fern growing in a flower box under my window on 60th St. It is very hardy. You would have to keep it hacked back!

I would LOVE to walk with you through your backyard, my friend....

Glad you made it through the storm relatively unscathed. It is interesting how the sun can change the look of the flowers in such a brief time.

I have a hibiscus out front. I'm not totally thrilled with them but they're okay. I'd rather have lilacs. And lilacs just don't grow here in this part of Arizona. *sigh* I like roses but they are just too hard to take care of for a simpleton such as I. It's weeds with a flower or nothing.

Beautiful hibiscus, my hubby's favorites. Hope you still get a good crop of tomatoes. And loved the photos and story of the oil lamps.

Oh wow, with ten bushes in different colors your yard must be a sea of color when all are in bloom. Beautiful shots Sandra, love your header.

I love the fact that you can get so many photos of one bush and they're all different!
My very favorite is the one with the rope.
