Ringling Museum is for the birds...

I crossed this bridge as I left the enchanted garden, headed for the Ringling Art Museum. Even the bridge is pretty and enhanced the view.

A man and a duck are walking down the street together. Suddenly the man notices a low-flying airplane coming right for them. The man yells "DUCK!!!!" and the duck looks back at the man with an angry face and yells "MAN!!!!"

The Muscovy Duck (Cairina moschata)
The above duck is a very common sight in just about all our neighborhoods here. They are so ugly they are cute and they hold up traffic by walking slowly across the road, spread out 2 to 6 at a time, they are unafraid of cars or people and some people do not like them because of the mess they make on driveways. My husband tells me that once about 30 years ago, they had about 30 of them in his neighborhood and people wanted them GONE. He contacted a friend on a farm and when the farmer came, Bob through his cast net over them and they moved them to the pond on the farm where they lived happily ever after.

A duck walks into a pharmacy and says, "Do you have any chapstick?" When the pharmacist hands it to him, the duck replies, "Thanks, just put it on my bill.

This post is just ducky. I can't imagine not wanting the pleasure of seeing a little nature strolling through your neighborhood every day. I think that a little mess in the driveway is a small price to pay for such a thrill.
OK so maybe I would feel different if I was actually living with it but then again maybe not :)

OK Sandra, I was trying to think of a good pun to add to this comment but nothing came to mind, so thanks for sharing your photos and one-liners.

What is the first bird, a stork, an ibis? I love the pose and the reflection! The duck is ugly, he looks just like the vultures around here! He hardly even looks like a duck! New to me!!!!

Beautiful shots of nature.

I used a Tamron 70-300mm lens on my baby croc shot. You can used it as zoom or macro, quite cheap too.

You got some very nice pictures of the birds and pond at the museum. I agree that the Muscovy Duck is not one of the most handsome ducks I've ever seen.

Today has been an inside day for me, so your images (and chucles) have been especially welcomed! Thanks!

Love the jokes and the cool pictures! The ugly duckling - we have one in the lake here. The poor things are so ugly.

That's such a wonderful place; maybe someday I'll get to see it too. Ugly as they are, I really like muscovy ducks!

It looks like they've gone to a lot of effort there to make a wonderful place to visit. I'm assuming that Ringling is not responsible for the corn though.

Your reflections are really great

Ducks are indeed messy, but their cuteness usually makes up for it.
