Tales of the Timer

Above is my Very Old timer that I have had since 1979 (yes, I know when I got it, since that is when I joined Overeaters Anonymous, but that is another story.)
Since I am a TAD older than the timer and my memory cells have all pre-deceased my body, I use this each morning to remind me to take my 8 am Pill.

As an Official Old Person, I take a pill at 4 AM and another 2 at 8 AM and All The Rest at 5 pm.

Problem #1: NO COFFEE may be guzzled for 30 minutes AFTER that 4 AM pill,

Hubby drinks his and slurps and smacks and makes comments about how good the coffee is today.... (the pill does not have to be taken at 4 AM but is at wake up before eating, 4 AM is our wake up time and that to is another story)

Problem #2: I get so caught up in my morning email/blogging I forget the 8 AM pill.. (this is the acid reflux pill and by 3 PM, THEN, trust me,  I remember)

Are you  thinking take them at all at the same time? Can't, per the teeny tiny, read with a magnifying glass instructions written on the bottle. See those little words that say Take On An Empty Stomach?

Problem #3: the 8 AM pill has to be taken  FOUR HOURS after the first one, thus the OLD timer....

did I lose you? are you wishing for all the dog pictures to come back? huh? huh?

4AM? Goodness, you are going to be getting up in just a few minutes and I haven't gone to bed yet.

Yep, I am totally confused. I would have to have a more elaborate timer to keep up with that schedule.

You need an alarm that hits you over the head! Hot coffee loaded with caffeine and half and half is my medicine of choice first thing in the morning.

Bring back the doggie photos--or, explain why you arise at 4 a.m.!

Best,
Bonnie

Getting up at 4 am I can't imagine; but I can totally see why you have to use an alarm of some kind to remember a pill that needs to be taken 4 hours after another. I take all of mine at breakfast time except I then need to take more pain killer pills later in the day - but if I forget those I will notice (and if I don't notice I don't need them, so does not matter!).

I am not so concerned about the pills, but why on earth are you getting up at 4AM?I thought I was an early rise by being up at 5:30 on weekdays and 7AM on weekends.

I'm confused, but laughing at this Erma Bombeck moment! You really do need to tell people in your last post when there is another one below. I totally missed it. BUT, I returned here a second time just to make sure my comment went through and happened to see it by accident. I love this post, and I know about the pills and timer! I bought timers that will go off three times, and will do over an hour. But they are too hard to work and too much computerized, I can never remember how to work them!! So yes, you noticed the one I just bought is also the old fashioned turn kind! No batteries and easy for us to use!! Hey, I want to tell you something. It has just been on the T.V. news and in the paper about the acid reflux pills. Check if yours is a proton pump inhibitor type. That would include Prilosec, I think (omniprozole). They have been causing bad things to happen, and are advising people to stop taking them, I read a whole article in Consumer Reports Health magazine. I think the side effect is high risk of heart attack, but can't remember now. My friend had to quit hers. Only take them if nothing else works. They advise just trying the old kind first like Tums. Also something that really has worked for my friend is a couple spoonfuls of vinegar right before you eat. This is good for you, harmless, and works. We saw it on Dr. Oz. Sorry if I'm sounding bossy, I just want to let you know and keep you healthy!!!

all the prescription directions drive me nuts so it's a good thing that as of yet I don't have to take them often. I never seem to be very good with the timing on them either.
Your husband is a real tease and I think that slurping of his coffee calls for a payback...lol

Your timer and the pill regimen is quite a crazy thing. Don't the Drs. and pill makers understand that people have to live lives too?
I'm afraid I couldn't behave with that kind of schedule.

Hi There, We are lucky in that our pills are taken before meals. AND--you know that we NEVER miss meals!!!! SO--we don't need a timer...

Hugs,
Betsy

I smiled at you forgetting your stomach pill...then remember it...I know how that feels:)

I totally understand...specially about the timer. I cannot cook without a timer, and I don't remember my mom ever using one.

Oh Sandra do you think I ought to read the instructions on my pills? I just divide them in two - slop them down and repeat at dinner time!

You are very good! I am very bad.

Love, sandie

Um - well...
I will admit to not taking mine exactly as written. Meaning - empty stomach - full - or in between... ?? Eh - it works. ;o) (Do not do as I do!!)
