Great Idea!

Whomever created these benches they have placed in our Mall, did a wonderful thing. Have you ever tried to sit more than two people on a bench? you can't carry on a conversation because you can't see the other people.

OOPSIE DAISY... this was supposed to be on auto post for TUESDAY. happy Tuesday

these benches were only a few short steps from the food court and and ice cream shop (no we did not have an ice cream)
As Hubby and I walked across the parking lot to my Vue, I had to snap this wonderful sky. It appeared the parking lot was in a big, blue bowl with fluffy icing.

Hubby was with me because I refuse to go there alone, last week a woman came out in this very spot where we are parked, and 2 men with guns, robbed her. (note: the building under those clouds is our Sheriff's Dept.

do you shop your mall alone? do you feel safe going anywhere alone? How is the crime rate in your city?

I do shop alone but it is always in the day time.

I love those benches - what a great idea. You can sit with more then two people too!

Love the curved mall benches. I usually do not shop at the mall. I try to stay in town and shop local stores. All malls can be dangerous.

Those are beautiful benches. That is really sad about the woman being robbed. I feel safe during the day. I always worry about my daughter after work in the evenings.

I love those benches; I get such a stiff neck when seated next to someone trying to talk to them.

I do have to shop alone often but I am very particular about where I will go - never to the mall alone.

Amazing that someone would rob the lady right under the sheriff's dept. nose!

I don't like to go places alone but if I do its in the day time. I have learned to be very aware of my surroundings after living and shopping in San Francisco for many years.
Where we live now is so much safer but as everyplace else, crime rears its ugly head. I think the thugs think we are an easy mark.
Oh yes, I do like those curved benches. they are pleasing to the eye and better for communication.

I do like those benches. I believe they have some in Florida Mall, but not Fashion Square Mall which is my favorite. I do go to the mall alone, but not very often. I pay a lot of attention to my surroundings and I try to carry myself in a way that someone would know they would have fight on their hands if they bother me. Orlando has a very high violent crime rate. I live in the city limits and do almost everything within 10 miles to home. Some friends of ours live downtown Orlando and their neighbor was stabbed to death by a homeless guy because she had been feeding him meals from her home and he wanted to sleep at her house and she told him no. There are million dollar homes in her neighborhood. crime is not prejudice! My son was with friends at the movies downtown and a guy started bashing his girlfriend or wife's head into the concrete...About 6 OPD were there in a couple of minutes my son told me. The city is beautiful to look at and that's all. A lot of people are getting their concealed weapons permit. Scary!

I just love your description of the blue bowl parking lot, and yes I can see that; it is a perfect description!! The benches are so pretty and way cool, I love them! They committed this crime right in front of that Sheriff's office? Criminals don't care anymore and aren't careful (not that they were ever a caring bunch anyway, but you know what I mean) They are mostly on drugs and desperate to use whatever measures to get money for their habit. Not like the criminals of our day before drugs. Our little city is pretty safe, but there are gangs now and you have to be kind of careful. I have been forgetting to tell you how much I love this gorgeous big perfect rose header!!! I always get all caught up in your post then forget about the header!

Love the benches!

As you know, I go a lot of places alone, but I am extremely vigilant and aware of my surroundings, always looking around me. I also always keep my keys and phone in my pocket or on me somewhere so if someone manages to snatch my purse, I can still leave the area and call the cops (in that order...).

I love those curved benches, great idea. Love that beautiful sky and yes,I go shopping alone, crime rate is very low in my area. Winnipeg, our nearest big city is perhaps a little different, but I would still go alone. Call me crazy,I don't know ,but I have never felt unsafe.

I love those benches! I am always grateful when I find a spot to sit and rest when shopping!

I live in Irving, Texas and feel as safe as it is possible to feel these days. My daughter tells me to always look at others in the eye, be alert and carry my keys with one sticking out between my fingers to use as a weapon when walking to my car.

Good advice but it probably would not do me any good. "When in trouble, when in doubt - run in circles, scream and shout!"

I love the benches too! They look comfy. I do not go to the mall at all. I haven't been to the mall in years. I won't go to the one in Charleston at all because there is a parking garage. I used to go there all the time when it first opened and when I worked downtown. I have even heard of purse snatchings at the WalMart that I go to!

Us women should almost consider using a mans wallet to carry our money in and have it in our back pockets! lol I know that's not sexy looking but it might be safer there.

Love those benches. The shopping alone thing is no longer an issue for me since April 2011 stroke. I am always on the buddy system now! And usually my shopping buddy id hubby!

I want one of those benches. Love them.
Unbelievable that someone would rob a person with the Sheriff's dept right there.
It's relatively safe around here but the two bigger towns near me do have a problem with gangs so I've heard. I've never felt unsafe going anywhere by myself though. I suppose if things got worse though that would change

Fun shots as always and Malls are for kids or as I call them Mall rats. My mall is Amazon.com.

Those are very cute benches Sandra ~ I like them!

I feel safe going anywhere in my little city of Swift Current. I go for long walks by myself in the wee hours of the morning or later at night. Well, not past 9 pm... I'm sleeping by then! Ha! I'm very thankful and grateful to live where I do. I don't blame you for not wanting to go out by yourself. Scary!

Tuesday? No wonder my weekends seem to fly by. Those benches are pretty neat. You must have some pretty brazen criminals in your city to pull off a robbery so close to the Sheriff's office.

I don't mind shopping alone...but have always heard that lots of stuff happens in the parking lots that we never hear of...any city. Not just here.

Sandra, no problem going to a mall cause there are none here in this small town. Closest mall shopping is a 90 minute drive to Salisbury, MD or across a roll bridge to Virginia Beach. I do go shopping alone locally, and sometimes only carry money in my pocket and leave purse in the car.

I agree that's a great bench.

You already know I'm out and about on my own a lot. In the daytime I'm not afraid but I rarely go out on my own at night. I'm also careful in a crowd to think of where I keep my purse etc.

So far we are fairly safe in our area but things can change fast. I don't go alone 'cause I don't see that well.
