Sunshine, Butterflies and Puppy Dog TALES

How could we not love her with a face like this

Have you ever seen a butterfly cry?
No, but I’ve seen a moth bawl!
How do you milk a caterpillar?
Find a very low stool!
Daffy-nition of a butterfly
A worm that’s won its wings!

Question: What do a moth, a butterfly and a fish have in common?
Answer: Scales!
FACT: Everyone knows that fish have scales. But, what about moths and butterflies? Well, it will probably come as a surprise to you to learn that the powder-like substance on the wings of moths and butterflies is actually tiny layers of scales. These layers of scales help give butterflies and moths their beautiful color. They also give out a special smell from some male moths and butterflies that make the females like them.
YES, we do have butterflies in January

I see Baby has found her sunny spot and is ready for a nap. What no chasing butterflies?

Great butterfly shots. I didn't know that about the scales, learned something new tonight.

I keep meaning to tell you I really like your new header with all the hearts.

What a face!. It says, "Love me or I will cry." Interesting about butterfly scales. The dogs in the pram in your last post are a hoot. A little over the top I'd say.

Thanks for the smiles, my friend! Love the pics....and BTW we have butterflies in January in MN too....however, they are just pictures in books, does that count? I didn't think so....

Thanks for the laughs, Sandra!

Yes, the fishers do fish inside the huts, and I hear it can be quite cozy there. They drill holes through the ice using augers. Then fish with fishing poles.

Thanks for the information about scales on butterflies and moths. I'm slightly envious of your January butterflies, but since you shared such good pictures I'll be content with them. It's too cold for butterflies up here today.

Love the jokes!!! The butterfly is wildly orangey beautiful, especially against the purple flowers! I miss flowers and butterflies in the winter, almost no snapping opportunities outside! Even the sunsets aren't as pretty as the other seasons.

It is always refreshing to see a butterfly, but especially in winter, even if it is only on the blog.

"They also give out a special smell from some male moths and butterflies that make the females like them." that made me laugh because I know a couple of guys who could use some moth and butterfly scales....lol
